Sevilla Roma officially called off. I expect the same to happen here.

The game will probably be postponed, which kinda sucks. I doubt UEFA will force Getafe to forfeit for not traveling to a region with a high number of infections & deaths from a virus.

Tbf if that Brazilian club had to lose the cup final 3-0 because their fucking plane crashed getafe should probably be struck as a 3-0 here. If we can find a way to play the second leg I would be in favour of letting them score 3 times immediately to basically have a one off knock out match.

I dunno what happens if we cant travel though as it would be 3-3 on aggregate. Logistically the right decision would be for getafe to go ahead as they could actually play the next round. Maybe by then though the EL will be cancelled anyway

That's not actually what happened, fyi. The final was cancelled and their opponent campaigned to have the championship rewarded to Chapecoense.

Unfortunately, Chape got relegated at the end of last season in Brazil. That they stayed afloat as long as they did is actually pretty remarkable given that they aren't a big club and, you know, kinda got decimated in the plane crash.

Fair enough. I could have sworn they initially at least forfeited the first leg 3-0

Yeah, Europa League and Champions League probably suspended. What would make the most sense is the Euros postponed by a month or so, later start to the season next year seeing as there isn't any major tournaments. ElDuccio was talking about it in the Juve thread IIRC.

Assuming any of this calms down by halfway through April, which is unlikely.

What’s the point of postponing it?

Inter-Getafe, director general Villaverde: "We could play a knockout match in a neutral location"

Director general of Getafe, Clemente Villaverde Huelga, spoke at the scheduled press conference ahead of the Europa League match against Inter, which has been postponed. Here were Villaverde's comments: "We received the announcement from UEFA that tomorrow the game would not be played. We thank UEFA for understanding the delicate situation. We are in ongoing contact with UEFA and with Inter, we're looking for a solution to find a date and a place where we can play this match. There is a chance that the match could be played as a knockout match in a neutral location. Whatever decision UEFA makes we'll accept it."

Neutral location? If Sevilla-Roma was called off because Spain doesn't allow flights from Italy, why would UEFA force a match to a neutral ground where the Italian team would have to fly to anyway? What a fucking logic.

Neutral turf? Like Greenland or something? The virus is all over Europe.

Just call off all sporting events in Europe ffs. Big fucking deal if trophies aren't won for one season. These money hungry bastards are putting lives of others at risk.

And probably Greenland don't want corona from Italy. :D No place wants it from Italy. That's the ridiculousness of the proposition.

So what's the plan here?

Arsenal is also in quarantine so I guess UEFA may be checking the PL for some precedent set by another organization.
