Fuck I'm so drunk right now but let me try my hardesrt to explain. Yes, the Nike logo has been noticably lowered to accommodate the Coppa Italia patch, but nevertheless, it still looks awkward to me.
And I completely agree that due to the nike logo being lowered, if you chose not to put the CI patch there, the shirt would look kinda retarded. But this is no fault of ours, moreso the fault of Nike who should never have put the CI patch there and never should have lowered their logo in the first place.
Let me explain it this way. There are 3 'marks' on the jersey. Left, middle and right. Left is Nike + CI, middle = scudetto, and right is our logo. If you draw a straight line, they should be more or less lined up.
like so:
See this is our shirt from last season when we didn't have the CI patch. The badges are all divided in the area shown with a green boundary and sit within them perfectly. YES, the star above the inter logo does not fit in the box but it is so small compared to the larger shape of the circle which makes up the inter logo that the eye doesn't notice it very much.
The THREE badges sit within their 3 boxes.
Below is a close up of our new jersey with the CI patch.
notice immediately that there is not 3 sections now, but 4, because the 'left' section is divided into two sections, one for the Nike logo, one for the CI patch. Notice also that where I've drawn with orange, the top of the CI circle comes above the bounding green border, and because it is a heavier shape and size than for example the star above the Inter logo, the eye is instantly drawn to its inbalance. Additionally it is RED contrasting with the BLUE stripe of the jersey meaning it stands out even moarrrr.
I don't mean to sound arrogant or anything but i've been a graphic designer for a while now and what i'm tellign tyou is straight-up design principle sensibility and design psychology.
I respect and agree with your opinion that the coppa Italia badge is not noticable enough when placed on a sleeve. In my opinion, the solution would be to have a larger COppa Italia badge (about the size of our Inter logo), and to place it on the left sleeve.
