I actually think Barella is slightly overrated by Inter fans. He’ll occasionally have mediocre games, but fans will think he killed it because of two or three dazzling moves, as well as his abundance of crackhead energy. What’s this thing with underrating Barella so severely? Dude is legit world class and most probably one of the ten best central midfielders in the world. Look at our 2-0 against Fiorentina.
Especially look at the start of the attack, and tell me how many midfielders can retain possession in that situation like he did.
I appreciate us not flying too high and underrating our players but Barella is a world class player.
He’s allowed less than perfect games. The issue isn’t him, but with fans refusing to see his 3/5 games as anything less than 4.5/5Look, even De Bruyne doesn't have 5/5 games all the time. And Barella is no De Bruyne, but he is good. Very good.
One more reason to play Barella from the start and ask for a big match from him.Barella is not in good form lately. So, I don't mind if Inzaghi fields Frattesi instead.
I guess de Vrij will start in CL if not here. Should not impact his confidence or anything cause it is also a very important game. I would also start him against Milan but it's a fair discussion for sure, not something like Gagliashit-Eriksen case.Acerbi barely played in preseason. Zero competitive minutes thrown into a derby is a concern for me. No matter how experienced you are. Often times players of his age take a little longer to play into form as well. I remember Samuel in particular always having that issue.
I’d start De Vrij personally. I question whether it sends the right message to the group to immediately bench him after 3 consecutive clean sheets. And this is coming from someone who had serious concerns with renewing De Vrij.
He would rather play an out of form Acerbi, than an in form Frattesi... meh
