Can someone find me a video or a photo from the Vecino goal. The moment when Godin passes and Sanchez is onside? Please...

I would love to talk to somebody from the coaching structures of a team and ask them what is the reason for those transformations. Was Barcelona and BVB just a juice drained kind of a thing? But then, why every player who came onto that field looked exactly the same (slow, sluggish) when subbed in?

How about todays game? First half, our players looked like -3 speed comparing to milan. There is no formation that would make us look different. We were so slow, so defensive minded that it was out of this world. Milan player when 10 meters of free space in front of him, it was instant sprint towards our goal. Same for us? Slow pass to the defender.

I thought "ok, maybe our strategy is just to get to the second half with minimal losses to our batter and then go 120% in second half", but then when we came into 2nd half it looked exactly the same. If not for Brozo's goal out of nothing, it would still look the same most likely. After the goal, everything changed and after 2nd goal it was even bigger change.

Same players, same formation. Anybody has any clue? If it's all in players head, then who should we blame? Players or the coach? Mentality? Fitness coach?

If I had a 15 minutes Q&A with Conte that would be my question I would love to have answer to. How to explain this match and transformation. I'm sure there is a real answer, and it's not the jibberish that coaches tell the media after those kind of matches.

So much this. The match was fucking epic and unbelievable comeback, but we cannot ever allow this first half to happen again.

Conte already took large portion of the blame for the first half so there's that. We looked like the reversed teams. Milan being on top and Inter the midtable team.

And we need to do something to that defence. Even at the second half, it wasn't good, Milan was creating chances. Zlatan was very close to score that equalizer in extra time. 38-year-old dominated our big scary trio of Godin-De Vrij-Skriniar. A complete domination.

I think Milan took their foot off the gas a bit and seemed to want to keep possession and tire us out instead of keeping going full force like they did in the first half. Then we got those two goals so quickly Milan were just in shock and all the momentum was with us.

Vecino bought himself another 100 starting games in a row with that goal.

I don't expect us to not do that ever. No team in history of the football can get by without halves like that. I understand that and I don't expect Conte to fix that, because it's unfixable. If it was, then a) every coach in the world would do that, and b) if it was so easy we would be winning tripplet every year. It's impossible and I don't expect Conte to do impossible.

However, what I'm interested in is not how NOT to have performances like that, but WHY they are happening. What's the cause, to understand the mechanics of it. Was it "play with 50% the first half, and then we throw everything we have in 2nd half" kind of a plan for today, or was it momentum, or a half time speech that had delayed effect by 5 minutes, or what? I'm just interested in the logical reason of it.

I didn't see them taking their foot off the gas in first 5 minutes of 2nd half, did you? Secondly, they were literally destroying us in 1st half, playing 3 times faster then us. Every moment they were cruising towards our goal it was dangerous. Who in his own mind would not want to keep going? There is something else that is the reason, something logical. Would love to find out what it is.

If i had 15 Q&A with Conte i would ask him if this transformation from the team which used to press high and have a build up play when in control during the 1st phase of the season to a team who doesn't use the midfield at all was intentional or just due to missing Sensi.

The quality of football we are offering in the last 2 months is terrible.

Milan's pace of play was always unsustainable. This isn't a video game; you can't relentlessly press your opponent for 90 minutes without running out of gas.

Exactly. In the year 2020 or close to it, we've been mostly just shit. Yeah, good games against Serie B Genoa and Napoli who loses to everybody. Apart from that, just shit football. Hopefully Conte can find a way to include Eriksen to the starting lineup without sacrificing a forward position.

I second that. The last month, maybe month and a half I would say is a loooot of long balls towards Lukaku or Lautaro. It was not the case before that (occasionally yes, but not so often).

Maybe... our fitness guy told him "listen, if we keep playing like that for the rest of the season, we will keep having injuries like that every week and we won't have anybody to play with for the last 5 matches of the season" or "if we keep playing that, our players will last 45 minutes for the last 2 months of the season a match".

There is just so much stuff we have no idea about. Football today is very complex business, involving hundreds of people working on ultimately result of a 90 minutes of football match. What we see in TV is a fraction of it.

The question is, whether if I knew all the behing the curtain stuff, would I be less frustrated or more after the matches :p

barca and liverpool can/could. Same with BVB back at klopps days, where he played (ironically) almost the same 11 game in, game out for the full season. Explain to me that.

Maybe it's just how good of a pre-season you have and whether you hit that ideal spot with a balance between intensity vs not overworking players. If you do too much to one side it's too much the players will keep getting injuries, if it's not enough the players will not last for the full match.

Apparently he stopped and did that towards the section where our fans were. Thank god we bent them over in the second half. Best part of the celebrations was watching the ugly cunts face quickly make his way out the exit at the end  Get fucked.

In fact I remember he taunted the Inter fans in the stadium in 2012 when Boateng dived for the penalty and he scored, and coincidentally they also got smashed 4-2 in that game too :awyeah:

What a derby!
We sent the milan fans back to where they belong (the sewer) with a comeback they will never forget. Tonight's first half was awful, probably the worst we've played so far this season. Conte was completely outwitted by Pioli and didn't seem to have an answer to milan's free-flowing attack. What was particularly painful to notice was how sharper and more coordinated their players looked compared to ours. You could see patterns of play, constant off the ball movement, and a clarity of ideas that were nowhere to be seen in our team. The two goals, albeit the result of (rather blatant) individual mistakes by our players, were the natural consequence of their dominance. If Conte has to take the blame for the first half's awful display, he has also to get some credit for the way we fought our way back into the game in the second. However, one could argue that the turnaround was also (perhaps even mainly) caused by milan's morale collapsing after the one-two they suffered at the very beginning of the second half. It was clear the blow was too big for them to take, and some of their players (Rebic and Theo to make a few names) seemed to have literally disappeared from the field after that. Anyway, what's clear is that we have to play better in the future if we want to seriously stand a chance of winning something this year.

It's hard to pick the MotM tonight, but I would go with de Vrij, who kept us afloat in the first half with a couple of last-ditch interventions and then put us in front with that unbelievable header. As I said, our defence looked shaky throughout the first half, which can be partly explained with the fact that our midfield got constantly overrun by milan's. Skriniar completely lost Ibrahimovic on occasion of their second goal, and Godin had a hard time keeping Rebic at bay. They both had a better display in the second half, but had Luck decided not to come in our rescue, they would have been roasted for their performances. Padelli made a blunder (which for a goalie means conceding a goal) and ultimately ended up shipping 2 goals out of milan's 2 shots on goal of the night. He was also saved by the posts on two more occasions (even though the second wouldn't have probably stood had the ball gone in). Which is poor, of course. In his defence, he managed a few good punch clearances. Anyway, tonight's was by far the biggest game he's played in his career. And he's not Handanovic. So let's not be too harsh on him.

Brozovic was our best midfielder of the night. Apart from the defensive shift he put in during the first half, he propitiated the comeback with that fantastic volley and then lead the charge with his usual passing ability. Vecino was also instrumental in the win, not only for the goal he scored, but also for the performance he gave. I often criticise him for his apparent lack of involvement in the game, but tonight he was always there, even when milan players were running circles around ours. Barella was completely off in the first half, arguably our worst player on the pitch. However, he grew into the game (like most of his teammates) in the second 45 minutes and contributed to the win with his dynamism. Eriksen helped us slowing down the tempo and seeing the game out. It's also worth mentioning that his Juninho-esque freekick could have killed the game and solved the stadium problem in one strike as the stadium would have certainly collapsed had that ball gone in.

Young was solid. Nothing fancy in attack, but he had a decent showing on the left flank. Candreva was far less convincing on the right one, which is understandable considering that's where Rebic and Theo were constantly rampaging forward in the first half. He put in a few good crosses, though, most notably the one that de Vrij headed home. Yes, we scored from a corner kick. How good does that feel? Moses was subbed in to have a pair of fresh legs to put against milan's full-attack formation. He did well and found the way to assist Lukaku for the goal that sealed the game. Biraghi didn't have time to do anything, be it good or bad. But as a true interista, I don't think he will mind.

Alexis was brilliant. Of course, given our midfield was unable to bring the ball forward, there was little he could do in the first half, but as soon as the tide started turning in our favour, he reminded everybody what kind of player he used to be. Unfortunately, I fear we'll never see that player again. Let's just focus on the progress he's made in the last couple of games and hope he can continue in his upward trend. Lukaku's first half was complicated. His hold up game wasn't particularly convincing and he had little impact on the game aside from that time when he burned Romagnoli on the right flank and set Vecino up for a shot. As the rest of the team, he played better in the second half and was rewarded with a goal.

And now, the customary gif of the once-an-inter-fan-now-milan-coach Pioli entering our locker room to congratulate our players on the win.
