Reading many of you, one would think we are out of the champions league already
We are, if we are picking Madrid, City or Bayern. Instead of Copenhagen or Leipzig from their respective groups.

Pretty retarded to choose such. I wouldnt be angry if we are not strong enough. But the fact that we were coward and happy to be 2nd.

Plus the ones defending the grandpas couple. Not rocket science to forsee they will be useless.

If we are out next round that is due to Inzaghi's over rotation. Again.

We are facing a top powerhouse. Not that fearing or not, but the chance is still on their favor. Much harder than beating Sociedad at home. But still he chooses it.
I think you have it backwards. Inter is a top powerhouse. Whoever faces us is going to have it rough.

That's not the point. But risking losing tons of money due to happy to draw versus Sociedad.
Who cares if we are rough to whom? I only care we must be in the quarter.

Honestly  It feels relatively obvious that the goals for this season are Scudetto, Coppa Italia if we can, and Ro16 UCL. Everything else is a massive bonus.

Yes especially alergy is the expert in the league. Currently they are breathing down our neck and they are very consistent in grinding the points. So it is quite understandable if we feel the pressure to keep winning in Serie A.
However, a simple adjustment to the team means we could aim for the UCL group winner without risking to drop any point against Udinese and Lazio. I agree that Serie A holds the utmost priority, but winning against Sociedad means we have a greater probability to advance to quarterfinal. Just compare the group winners and runner-ups, there is a stark quality gap yet we shoot down our foot to settle for a stronger matchup.

Sorry Inzaghi, I really appreciate our run in Serie A and UCL so far, but I do think you could have done even better.

I said at the start of this season our goal in CL should be to take down a giant and cause an upset and this is a perfect opportunity.

let's get a weaker team to at least make it to quarters or semifinals. I see Dortmund as a weaker team among other group winners. Atletico is not great either.

Ah people, you are exaggerating everything 🙄
We qualified for further competitions much earlier than in previous years. On top of everything, this is the Champions League and sooner or later you come across clubs that are the best in the world. You act like we're already out. I am sure that just as we want to avoid Real, City and Bayern, these above mentioned clubs also want to avoid us and get much easier opponent.
Be calm. Seria A is important this year, 2nd star incoming.

Ehh disappointing result but Sociedad had a clear game plan and it worked. We didn’t look too ambitious either though. Thuram was positive.

Next round will be tough. I’d give us a decent chance against Barca, Bayern or Arsenal but the odds against City or Real Madrid would be small.

That's where you get it wrong. We are too poor comparing to others and aren't aiming for that trophy. We need to proceed as far as possible to avoid selling blood.
This kind of arrogant attitude is how we shot our own foot last night.

Sociedad would be def scudetto contender ih they play in Seria A. We totally neutralise them yesterday, but having old farts like Sanchez and Arna also neutralise us to be dangerous to them.

We can win the next round. It was just dumb to put ourselves in this position when it could have been avoided.
You make it sound like our first team (effectively Lautaro + Barella) would have got us the group win. Like we would have avoided the 2nd place in the group if we just fielded those two.

That's quite a leap from what we saw yesterday. Sociedad play very good football and you people aren't giving enough credit to them.

Still, you guys are exaggerating.
IF a draw yesterday been enough for us to qualify, the atmosphere in this thread would have been quite different.

thuram really stood out in the attack, i was happy to get him but i never expected him to have such a positive impact so fast - amazing guy! other from that we seemed to play without a clear plan but all in all we finish a good group phase. can't wait to see our next opponent, hope it's gonna be a big one so everybody will shit their pants in here just for us to pull a pazza qualification for the next round  love this club!

Keep telling yourself that.

As much as the "it is what it is" crowd love to rip on the "complainers" the truth is you sandwiches are even more determined to hold onto this mindset.

Example: did Lautaro have to play the full 90 mins against Udinese? We were 3-0 up at half time.. Would Udinese have mounted a heroic comeback and beaten us 3-4 if we had taken Lautaro off at half time, or even the hour mark? No, but we might've given Lautaro more rest for this match against Sociedad and we could've even started him instead of that absolute fucking waster Sanchez.

Pretty much the same case in the first leg. Points don't lie and Sociedad, not Inter, are the strongest team in this group. And yet, against the strongest team, the group winners, both home and away we played heavily rotated teams

We could've pushed much harder in the final 30 minutes at Benfica too. We tied the game up at 70 mins and the ref eventually gave 9 minutes of stoppage time  and yet we did fuck all because we were satisfied with merely rescuing the draw. Had we won that game, we'd be group winners now.

As others have mentioned, look at the difference between the group winners and the runners up.. it's the elite of the European elite against a bunch of fucking Europa League trash. Winning our group, and being drawn against one of those weaker teams balances out to actually HELP our scudetto chances, and almost guarantees progression to the Quarter Finals - plus that UEFA money.

Sociedad know this. Watch them celebrating. They aren't celebrating winning the group or even progressing to the next stage. They're celebrating an easy quarter finals run.

Disagree if you like but as far as I'm concerned, winning the group would've meant a 90% chance of getting through to the quarters but coming second place means a 50-75% chance at being eliminated at the round of 16. The difference between the two outcomes is colossal.

But nah.. it's all good guys!

I feel this is a good time to remind everyone that Lazio are in 10th place. TENTH fucking place. They have been pathetic all season and have scored a miserable 16 goals in 16 games.

I will also remind everyone that there is a full FIVE days.. FIVE days and 9 hours between the Sociedad match and our match vs Lazio. I mean... do we even really need to rotate?

As thatdude so accurately put it, there's prioritizing the scudetto, and then there's this.

And yet, because our coach is petrified of getting humiliated by his ex again, he has completely jeopardized our European campaign.

There's a balance to every single decision Inzaghi has to make. Who to start, who to rotate, when to sub etc. I get that some of you simply don't like what you perceive to be complaining - regardless how valid the criticism - and that it can be exhausting when people overanaylze every miniscule decision and micro detail. But giving Inzaghi a blanket excuse is not right either.

We should've put much more into this game. The "cost" of winning would've been negligible yet the ramifications for not winning are fucking enormous.

This is incredible delusional

It’s much harder splitting the playing time up and play every 3-5 days then playing full time once a week. I think like most your underestimating the importance of rest and the importance of playing full time for you fitness level.

There is reason why it’s much easier to win a league if you don’t have to bother with midweek games. Should and could he have rested Martinez more last weekend sure that is a possibility, but it doesn’t equal he could just play him much different in this game and it actually would be the best decision from a fitness point of view. The teams has data on the individual players we don’t possess and those data are largely used to make those assessments. Also you overlook it’s actually important for your fitness to actually play 90min regularly because without doing so regularly you won’t actually hold up for 90min when it’s demanded of you on those rare occasion because you won’t actually have the stamina to do so, so there is a deeper meaning in why you see teams play their better players 90min even if the game is already won.

Porto and PSG europe league don’t make me laugh, Porto played up to Barca and just barely lost twice with one goal difference, they are an annoying team to play against and don’t allow many goals against them. They are exactly the sort of team we typically struggle against and we had that pleasure last year around where we just barely got past them with one goal, in that they are as annoying as the team that actually won the group and that we could not win over… Thank god we don’t have to face them again.

The easiest team are FCK, Leipzig and PSV but if you think those are walk over your just delusional.

Leipzig Is 4th in the Bundesliga, PSV won all their games in the Eredivisie they are not walk over teams no matter what you believe they are easier but it doesn’t actually mean you would actually do so. FCK that on paper should be a the weakest walk over teams in years, they still managed to take points from Bayern as the first team in the group stage for years, they beat a sorry ass United, there no walk over teams at this point. Again except PSV these parking the bus team something that aren’t what we usually thrive under.

We are better against teams that actually want to play. I much rather have Dortmund or Arsenal then
most of these, PSV is frankly the only team of second placed teams I’ll love to draw.

We are a selling team, we are going to sell a better player regardless of how far we go.

Also getting far depends on the easiness of the route, you might have an easier 1/8 but then end up in the absolute strongest half, you might have a tough 1/8 but then find yourself at the weaker side to the final afterwards.

As been said before you have to eventually meet and beat the better teams, when is fundamentally irrelevant, only small teams care about when.

Personally I just only care about the Scudetto, everything else is really secondary importance too me at this point also winning will make us more important for investors and don’t forget how the format look like next year, winning the league is far more important then getting to the semifinals.
