Whenever we play Roma, I remember this game:

What I wouldn't give for someone who can pass like Roberto Baggio at Inter today. He created 4 goals that day, the sheer class in all those passes was sublime. I am getting nostalgic... Baggio, Zanetti, Ronaldo, Zamarano, Simeone, Djoerkaef, Pagluica...

...and then we also had crap like Silvestre, West and Cauet to give other teams a chance. :fffuuu:

Probaby that BatiGol was a Viola man through and through and loved the club and even went down to Serie B with them and then all of a sudden decided to leave the Viola when they were doing fairly well [they played the UCL for example under Trap] and gave his reason to leave as "wanting to win trophies" but then chose to leave for ...... AS Roma !!! A club that had won no trophies in a long time !! Viola fans sure felt betrayed by that.

But they won the league in his 1st season there so it all worked out for him in the end.Plus they had gotten Capello and spent good money that year.Still i dont think they were expected to win the league.Lazio and Juventus were surely the favourites.But perhaps Lazio winning the league spurred Roma on.

That is the only story i have heard about BatiGol and perhaps this is a nonsense post and the podcast had an entirely different story :trollol:.Fantastic times those were though as a kid.

But that roma team was already title contender before Batigol came IMO. IIRC he moved to roma on capello 2nd year as roma's coach. Their 3-4-1-2 with delvecchio-montella upfront and candela-cafu on WB was scary. Batigol was just missing piece in an already strong team.

Fabio Capello and Franco Baldini had dinner one night with the Editor of Corriere Della Sport and they told him for tomorrow's paper the headline should be Franco Sensi buys Batistuta. So that next morning people in Rome see this, Franco Sensi is awoken because fans are outside his house celebrating and cheering, at that point he's like why are they so happy. When he finds out why they are cheering he doesn't want to go and tell them no I haven't signed Batistuta.

Just about to comment on this. Apparently dzeko and emerson are very close to joining Chelsea. Big boost for us in this match. A lot of roma fans seem quite happy to get rid of him though, hope this hurts them more this season as i suspect it will
