Good point Tim, and not only that it would be great to see Il Capitano lift a trophy up in the Giuseppe Meazza.

Obviously this game will not be as much of a celebration as it was last time but I stil expect the players to give their all to win it.

While Roberto Mancini can afford to rest players this weekend for the game against Siena as we have nothing else to play for in the league this season, Luciano Spalletti will still probably start a first choice team as his side keeps battling with Fiorentina in that battle for the 4th and final Champions League spot.

In Rome on Wednesday Julio Cesar started in goal and did well, however I believe Toldo should play next week so another one of our more loyal players in recent years can also be there in the starting line up.

J.Zanetti and Walter Samuel are certs in defense and I'm pretty sure Favalli will take up the left back place now he is back. As Ivan Cordoba has been suspended I would play Burdisso instead of Materazzi in place of Ivan. Materazzi can be great coping with taller strikers such as Luca Toni but I think Burdisso is slightly better at playing the ball on the floor and he will be needed more than Matrix.

In midfield on Wednesday I saw an extremely poor Figo on show, although I would consider playing Solari I guess Figo will start and probably rightly so? The rest of the midfield should be made up of Cambiasso, Pizarrro and Stankovic on the left - I suspect.

Up front I would play Cruz (he deserves it) and Martins. Adriano might finally get the message to start working if he isn't played in a cup final and I believe that Martins can exploit the gap Mexes will leave in the defense (suspension) more than the currently flat flooted Adriano will.

FORZA RAGAZZI!

Lifting up the trophy in front of a dead Curva Nord is pointless, Zanetti might as well lift it up at the Olympico.

^^^ I agree with you but maybe if we let Figo out of the Siena clash he will look better for ROma which is frankly a more important game now..

Your wish ... ;)

It's good to see Mancini resting J.Zanetti and Figo for the Siena game. Of all the players, I would definitely love to see J.Zanetti play the final at any cost and hopefully win the trophy. It's a worthless Cup for sure but still he atleast deserves it.

I know, but would you rather 'give' a trophy to a rival team?

Mancini will be forced to make a strong statement about Adriano and his future when he chooses the line-up.

If he benches Adriano, that will be a strong message, "if you don't start performing at your best, I will use my other options".

If he starts him, he will be saying "I trust you always, you will be 1st choice as long as you stay at Inter".

With Moratti asking to try and get Luca Toni, and the fact that Adriano is likely to start tomorrow with Cruz on the bench, I think the first option is the more likely.

I believe Mexés is also suspended after picking up a yellow card, could be wrong. If he is big boost for you guys, he really is the linchpin of our defence.

However i think we'll have a better chance against you at the San Siro than in Rome funnily enough.

At home Inter have to attack, i think Mancini knows he cant just sit for 0:0 and a win on away goals against a team like Roma. But that way, Roma can hit Inter on the counter attack. We're probz the best counter attacking team there is in Europe, although Perrotta is a big part of that but Totti should be ready to start come the 2nd leg so all should be well.

Either way, may the best team win. Both teams play football the right way, all out attack and going for the win, and atleast one of us will have the chance to give juvemerda a thrashing in the super coppa aswell

Forza Roma! Tutti a Milano per alzare della Coppa!

Adriano thinks he is bigger than the team anyway. He needs a wake-up call to realise that if he doesn't play well he doesn't deserve to play!

Give Goran Slavkovski a chance... damn that guy is young, he must be a sensational talent to be called up to first team at age of 17 (vs. Siena).

Reports say Goran wont even make the bench (for Siena game)

Adriano needs to be dropped to the bench from now on, if we start next season with Tavano and Cassano and drop adriano to the bnech maybe him feeling threatened will do some good.

Well its not exactly being left out of the team, he still plays but for the first couple of games we show him we dont need to rely on him and then later on the season if he goes through this form again we do the same

Javier Zanetti,
I don't see the problem with playing a 4-5-1, if we play well I can see us atleast acoring two goals with this formation, but as we all know. Formation means nothing. We could play with all our strikers and get nothing, because, hell........we're Inter.

We need to score three goals to feel comfortable here.

Roma will score, you know it. I know, we all know it, we just have to score more.

The latest news is that Mancini is looking to use Veron for Thursday evening's match. This undoubtedly reflects the esteem that Mancini has for Veron. He has not even been back for a full week of training and yet Mancini is looking to use him against Roma.

If Veron plays, do not expect him to have match fitness or to work very hard. He will be a passenger and Mancini will substuitute him when it is too late (if at all). With an out of form Cambiasso and an unfit Veron, and forwards who can not manage more than a goal game, a poor result is already in the making.

But then again, regardless of whether Veron plays or not, I do not rate our chances.

Veron set for Coppa return
Tuesday 9 May, 2006

Inter’s hopes of winning the Coppa Italia have been boosted with the return to fitness of Juan Sebastian Veron.

The Argentine has been sidelined for the last month with an ankle problem, but he returned to full training on Monday.

Boss Roberto Mancini is therefore hopeful that the playmaker, a key element in his plans, will be available for Thursday’s second leg.

Alvaro Recoba and Cristiano Zanetti are unlikely to feature at any stage though as they didn’t train with teammates yesterday.

The pair worked individually in an attempt to shrug off various muscle strains which the pair have been suffering with.

Inter go into the San Siro clash in pole position to retain the Italian Cup after drawing 1-1 at Roma last week.

Kind of alternative approach I guess; feel free to bash me. I just can't put Pizarro, Figo or Adriano to my preferred line-up. Figo was so tired in Rome, it's beyond belief he played the whole game! Pizarro is pathetic with Cambiasso, in difficult games that is. I don't think I have to say anything about Adriano, you just seem to be incredibly patient with him.

-------Martins--Cruz----------
Solari--------------Stankovic--
---Cambiasso---C.Zanetti------
Favalli---------------J.Zanetti-
------Samuel---Burdisso-------
-----------Cesar--------------

Why not? I mean he is one of the best players in Inter and he has already shown what he can offer to the club.We are patient with him,but I belieuve that if he stays in Inter in the next season he will be top scorer in calcio league.

As long as Mancini doesn't go all catenaccio again, we should be able to finish the job against a depleted Roma. Don't really care if we win, other than to see JZ lift the trophy. :|
