Facchetti rumors??? :undecide:
Anywhoooo I demand we propose a new contract for Figo I mean five minutes in and he creates quite a sublime move that was somewhat ruined with Stankovic’s weak header…I find it quite funny that some seem to think this was the first time Figo showed his true form against a tough opposition, a certain match with Juve comes to mind (But that belongs in the Figo thread) anyhow I think we learnt a lot today…
The players aren’t fit!!! (They couldn't even run during extra time!!! :stress and Roma scored with so much ease it was too embarrassing! It took only twelve minutes and Roma are one goal ahead thanks to some horrendous goal keeping, well I’m not sure who to blame Zanetti or Toldone, they both went to the ball and missed, total lack of communication. Six minutes later another influential Mancini + Totti counter attack and Toldone makes a super save from Aquilani, Roma by then were showing early intentions of defending deep and counter attacking with ferocity. I lost count of how many times we were spread open… Grosso was losing the ball quite frequently, his only redeeming feature was his wing play and crossing! Matrix and Samuel showed no communication at all, J. Zanetti was too deep for my liking and Toldone was looking quite edgy…Thankfully both Figo and Vieria were looking solid, but that counts for nothing when you have both Totti and Mancini bombarding you.
Just when I was growing frustrated with our defending, the lively Totti rapes our defence and Aquilani scores…Twice, something isn’t right, we’re missing a middle man to provide all the necessary ammo for our strikers!! Talking of which both Adriano and Ibra were hopeless, especially when you see the attacking venom that was oozing from Totti and Mancini (I’m so jelous! :boxing: ) At least we were winning the midfield battle (I might be jumping the gun here, BUT Vieira is shaping up to be quite a surprise! He was phenomenal right from the start, hey his Juve career was quite crap) 3-0 score was very flattering for Roma, especially when you consider they only had about 4 shots on target and 3 went in…Something wasn’t right, we hardly had any effort on goal! Worst of all, both Adriano and Ibra were no where near coming close to scoring or even shooting on target! Just when it looked like turning sour a splendid header from the Frenchman and we’ve got a fighting chance! 3-1
The second half started just like the previous, with us attacking and Roma waiting for a break. The introduction of Crespo must have scared Spalletti, he takes off the dazzling Totti for Mido and Aqualani is sacrificed for Tonetto, while Cassetti comes on for Taddei...Bad idea (I can't tell you how happy I was!!!) the early substitutions were fatal (Lucky for us!!) more than ever since everything was going so excellent for Roma. Super Maicon was introduced moments later, and we’re playing what seems to be a 4-3-1-2 formation, with Figo just behind the front men…You would think this would leave us vulnerable at the wings, but both ilcapitano and Maicon were shredding the Roma backline with ease!
Crespo showed us what he’s all about with another superb header, 3-2 and the San Siro erupts! Moments later a horrible miss hit shot from Ibra ends up in the path of Vieira (Who was accompanied by Maicon of all people) to tap in the equaliser! Good stuff! It could have been a lot sweeter had Ibra converted a great chance Crespo single handedly created on the 89th minute but disappointingly he drills it wide…Again! So its Extra time and we continue the onslaught on Roma, moments later a free kick is awarded which “Man of the Match” Figo scores sublimely. Talking of which Ibra was fundamental in three of the goals, winning two free kicks one resulting in a header by Vieira and of course Figo’s beauty! Not to mention the miss-hit shot which resulted in Vieira’s second…The guy really needs to work on his finishing, nice movements off the ball though & Adraino really needs to find his form, from what I’ve seen Crespo deserves a place in the starting eleven…So does Maicon!!!! Forza Inter! I'm feeling tired time to sleep, too much excitement for one day
