We have to care about average age.

It's a good hint for when the "winning" stops. Which happened to us a long time ago.

And when are we going to play our youngsters? Next season? In two seasons time?

What better time than now will we have?

And based on this year, we have no reason to believe that Stankovic and Cambiasso can do a better job than Guarin and Poli. Those two oldies are not getting better as opposed to the young pair who we should play.

This is incredible short-terminism. We can't even give the pair of Guarin-Poli 3-4 games together even if with every game they probably take strides at reaching the current shit level provided by Cambiasso and Stankovic in front of them.

The argument for using old players ahead of young one's, esp young playres of quality like Poli and Guarin, is the most short-term as you could possibly think.

And thinking short-term needs to end, it had to end already last summer.

Yes, young players might struggle as much as the old one's, even more. But then they come next season, they are much better off because of the struggle. But if we play Cambiasso-Stankovic, we struggle this season... and we struggle next season at the start because the young players are learning then, not now. Or maybe we should still play Cambiasso-Stankovic then too... Because in the end, they are better than the two young one's maybe... but play the two young ones 10 games in a row and they are in good position to become better than the two oldies and they will keep on getting better, improving on their mistakes, learning the game.

I would also like to see a younger team, but as long as there is a mathematical possibility that we can qualify for CL he is not going to field youngsters, if they lose 1 match then everyone is going to be after their heads and telling that he should have fielded a more experienced lineup

Exactly, also we may not see any youth players this season since we will be fighting for the CL spot for a few more weeks. We will only see the real Stamala next season in case he stays.

I think Necrodragon's post is in reference to the current season and seeing it out. (thats how i interpreted it anyway).

What Tanel says is right, but at the end of the day the average age means nothing really at this point when this is what Strama has to work with for the remaining games.

Strama (or Inter) is not gonna develop youngsters into stars in 5-6 games.

Yes I think Strama is thinking short-term only because probably he is trying to reach the 3rd place so he can stay as our coach.

It's a risky move but I understand it. This could be very much the breakthrough season in his career. If he doesn't reach the 3rd place he won't lose much. He would probably become an assistant. The worst could be that he goes back to coaching the primavera. But if he reaches the 3rd place that would be a big step in his career.

I like the fact that he is young and ambitious not like a certain senile old fart who gives up in the half time.

The only player I care about starting is Guarin. I'd like to see him as much as possible until the end of the season as 13.5mil isn't exactly chump change for us.

This will be a disaster tbh. Poli, Obi, and Guarin like to go forward more than defend. Plus Naga, we basically defend with only 3 players there.

Defensively yes. With Zarate on the left, we need someone better defensively to cover Zarate because Zarate isn't going down there to win the ball.

Could use Zanetti there and Faraoni on the right :)

We already have the record for oldest lineup in CL history, why not go for Serie A history too? (or do we already own that record as well)?

Orlandoni
Cordoba - Lucio - Samuel - Chivu
Cambiasso
Zanetti Palombo
Stankovic
Forlan - Milito

:awwwyeah:

I doubt Faraoni is anywhere near the first team atm tbh.

That's from my perspective, would rather see him play than Chivu, not taking into account Strama's opinion and the current situation.

Well, if I were in Strama position, I'd pick Chivu over Faraoni. We as fans can see from outside only and we thought Faraoni is better but Faraoni was an incosistent performer in few occassions he had. I know that Chivu is a much inconsistent performer as well, but I think you'd feel more secured with an experienced player than someone who just breaks into first team for few matches. that's my bit.
