Nothing wrong with his footballing brain, and if there were, why would we even try to teach him a new position? It's hard to turn him into a great defender at this point of career, it might be easy on paper but doesn't usually work. Not to mention we are not in a need of a left back.

This point?Evra was 22 when he became a left back from a winger,Zambrotta was around 24.This is the right point...He's barely 20.And we certainly are in need of left backs.Chivu is a shitty LB,and is becoming old.Nagatomo is great potential but he is also right footed although he has a decent left foot.Maicon won't last much longer and Jonathan is one of the most injury prone players at Inter which means Nagatomo will be spending lots of time at RB.And he is really not an intelligent player,don't know how can you say that...Won't be surprised if he starts playing LB very soon.

Hmm, what do you think the starting line up will be? I'm a bit in doubt, and I have to pick a defender for my fantasy team. I can pick Samuel, Jonathan or Nagatomo, all priced at an equal level. Who would you pick gents?

The fact that two have succeeded means absolutely nothing. Ones that have been bad when employed out of position as fullbacks far outnumber the good ones. And yes, this point. He is not a kid anymore.

Also, if you think his footballing brain in bad, why would you even try to make him a fullback? Why would this position not require intelligence on pitch?

Intelligence is hardly equally relevant for a midifelder and a fullback.Midfielders primary job is distributing the ball,fullback is penetrating the flank looking for a cross and defending.Obi has already proven he can do the first,if he can do the second aswell then I don't se why he should't become a good fullback.I was giving examples since you say it is too late,it certainly isn't...If the player already has the attributes necessary,it shouldn't be a drastic change for him.
