I think this match just confirms why we are all so excited about this season, this team really seems to be solid in so many different ways. It wasn't as if Imperatore scores gols out of nothing, he was set up by others and finished flawlessly. It was very inspiring to watch us have an idea in front of opponents, and it isn't as if we won on pure talent either - Mancio had our boys with a very clear idea of what it'd take to win. Some could become foolish and say that our questions in defense have been answered, but the truth is we have yet to be tested and neither was Julio Cesar. If I could go into full details, I woiuld but I unfortunately wasn't able to watch most of the second half due to some poor weather down here (damn after-math rain left by hurricane Katrina)
On a couple of good notes, not only did Pizarro look excellent in the limited action that he got but the fact that he could buy and kill time, yet pin point passes and still be a playmaker just makes him such a genius. Before some may dismiss Juan Sebastian Veron (well, I'm talking about Han, not sure about the rest of you
) but he's really looked great so far this season from working on defense to his vision (he had such an amazing pass to Alvaro Recoba that resulted in him hitting the goal post). It wouldn't be worth my time or mean much if I were to praise our defense (especially Cordoba and Matrix who were pretty active running, and in the air) but I'll wait to see Samuel back and more dangerous attacks from an opponent.
Luis Figo is out of rhythm. But, he did beat his man and have a few good runs as the game went on. I'd like to see him pass the ball a little more often, though. Stankovic didn't leave much of an impression on me, but I did miss around 30 minutes. Cambiasso was all over the pitch today, and didn't win as many of the loose balls as you'd usually expect him to win he was still rock solid. Besides Veron and Adriano, probably our third best player on the pitch. Our forwards (Adriano e Chino) weren't sharp together, but talent will do against teams like this. It just doesn't seem like the same old Internazionale, but then again.. I say this to myself every year.
I'm a little in euphoria right now because it is my birthday, so please excuse my huge optimism.
