No for this 4231 system and a big YES for 4312 ( Rafa before 4 day said that he will play with this formation in the future ) ...
The transformation attack - defense with this 4231 is just awfull, we saw that with Mour, we see it now, this formation is not a Seria A material for Inter, fact.

I agree with the formation opinion. Julio; Maicon, Lucio, Walter, Zanetti/Santon; Deki/Zanetti, Cambiasso, Motta; Sneijder; Milito, Eto'o.

Benitez look paralyzed on the bench.

how did we saw that with mourinho? We stopped Chelsea and Barca with 4-2-3-1, and we won the treble...

the thing is, rafa plays with same formation, but different tactics...

Therefore I said
this formation is not a Seria A material for Inter, fact.
Mour start to use that system in Seria A from January, my opinion was and still is that this was one of the reasons for those bad periods and problems on the table with Roma ( they were +14 I think in the first period of the year).

Oh yeah, could it be related to his position and that other guys like Keane, Guardiola, Redondo, Simeone, Vieira... okay, I'm out of references.
Point was that this is not his duty.

I do agree he underperformed, but no based on the qualities you mentioned and his role.

First of all, being intercepted on elementary passes can't be called a "duty." With two DM's precision passing out of the back precision passing is essential and he showed the inability to pass well throughout all the later stages of the game.

Secondly, rightly some superfluous presence of offensive firepower isn't his exact prescription however if you are going to dribble into the teeth of the defense and then not make a pass to the forwards making runs but rather stop and do nothing I am going to say that is inexplicable and his rawness must be reformed.

us not needing strengthening was clearly BS though. anyone of our big hitters get's injured and we're fucked. especially if it's during the busy parts with CL & serie a etc

Good way of using English language to win an arguement. In fact, freaking hilarous. It was like Joey's letter to the adoption centre.

I will adress it tomorrow after the current game. I need my time to check my own enyclopedia (oh wait, that isnt how it's spelled!!!!), and then I'm all yours.

Creativity comes from Sneijder, but we need CMFs or DMFs who can actually pass the ball forward with some semblance of intelligence. Motta is more than capable of this, he has good vision and a great quick pass. Mariga needs work, but Zanetti is simply incapable. In midfield, 90% of his passes will be either backwards or travel 2 metres to Cambiasso next to him. Plus that goes to my earlier point that a semi-passing deep midfielder is needed to relieve responsibility off Sneijder.
me and you are the only ones saying it.... we keep it saying it, but clearly no one else gets it. It's so simple.

Missed the game. I know I know, shame on me, but was the ladies birthday. How was the udinese midfield, Asamoah and Inler? How did they perform?

Was at the game today, the atmosphere was real quiet for the first 20 minutes since the ultras were having a 20 minutes of silence to oppose the tessera del tifosi and that really effected the atmosphere. As for the game I knew the moment Lucio was warming up (he scored a screamer while practicing shooting vs castelazzi) that he was going to score today he just had it in him. Sneijder I think should take the captaincy after Zanetti retires, I know it probably won't happen and he's so far down the line but you have to see how the fans react to this guy and how in return he acts. Before any of the players even entered the pitch for warm ups he was alone walking around the pitch and just staring at the fans and waving and the fans in return gave him a great response, and during the game they go crazy at almost every touch he has and even when he walks up to take the corner and at one point I think he did a gesture for them the guy is pure class on and off the pitch and what he can do in terms of putting the ball places no one else can is just insane.

As for the game itself, with Milito on the pitch he seemed like he retards every single play that goes his way as he seems to not do anything right, nor does he seem like he has the motivation to do so. I think he should spend a game or two on the bench just to give him that desire to play at a better level than he is today. The fans seem to like Mariga and he seems like he has some great talent but needs time to mature as he did a lot right for a while but then his passes were completely wrong on the other hand Eto'o is on fire and seems to be getting used to the league and I think for the time being 4-3-1-2 doesn't seem like a bad idea with him and Pandev up front I think when they played that formation they actually managed to click better especially against the smaller teams where we won't have to worry about us counter attacking.

I think that's pretty much all I have to say after such a great experience at the San Siro, I hope the team keeps getting better and better each and every game and I see great things from Mariga if he can keep growing as a player.

Also I'd like to add that in the monkey in the middle part of the warm up Mariga's passing was not bad I didn't like the guy but as a whole I now witnessed his talent but like I said it's still very raw and needs to grow but he has the potential i have no doubt.

I'm happy with this game. 3 points is what matters. In patches, we saw good play by our team in terms of passing and movement; but there the final touch and outcome was lacking. However it will come with time. We are obviously going through a transition. And while that transition to more possession and passing play happens, if we get enough of points; it's great.

Great that we got the points eventually.

Thanks for your report Principe.

I had to miss the last half an hour of the match. But till that point and according to comments here, Milito was again piss poor. I said already during the match that he needs rest. Huge work he did last season and World Cup (despite not playing, but being there, not resting) both affect him still. He does stupid moves on the pitch on a constant basis. He doesn't think straight because he's also mentally tired. He simply needs his rest and he needs it now. Game or two or more, but we need him to be ready. He's not useful for us now.

the points is what matters today
i blame the performance mainly due to international games and the fact that its still begining of the season, so not too worried

I personally am a Mariga fan, he was pretty bad in the second half. However, we must remember this is only his second 90 minutes with us. He also played with Kenya during the mid week and before this he had not played a full 90 minutes since before his injury at Parma. So he has to be a bit tired, however he's young so his legs will catch up. Not an excuse for some of his decision making, but lets not act like he cost us a goal today Muntari style. 6/10

I could not watch the match... but seeing the comments here.. It seems that we're not yet in our best play..
Considering the facts, I am really glad for the results.. Our team looks to get better, and the trend is good.
I hope the TV will show inter next week in CL...
Serie A is loosing its popularity here...

Javier Zanetti,
Our performance was not good today, but the important thing is the three points. We'll improve game by game.
