“No decision has yet been made,” warned Milly Moratti in Il Giornale newspaper today.
“Before talking about his shares, my husband is waiting to know something definitive. He feels a great deal of responsibility towards the team and the Nerazzurri fans.”
Former patron Moratti still owns 30 per cent of the club, but is expected to sell all his remaining stock while Thohir keeps 30 per cent.
“There is absolutely nothing personal against the current owner of Inter. Everyone has the right to run a club the way he sees fit,” continued Milly Moratti.
“However, Inter are a special side with special fans and its soul is specifically tied to the territory. See, that is what people failed to realise, the true value of being part of the territory. It feels like a wasted opportunity.”
Could Suning ask Moratti to take over again as their representative running Inter in Milan?
“He’d certainly be honoured and would evaluate how he could be of use. The respect of the territory and the values of Inter mean a lot to him.
“We met the Chinese investors briefly, as they came to dinner at our house. They really made a good impression, above all the son of Zhan Jindong, who showed he was very interested in the economic development of Milan and the enormous potential of the city.
“The Moratti family is available and counting on the enthusiasm of many Inter-supporting friends, who proposed many ideas when Massimo left the majority shareholder status.
“Yes, there are projects, but for now there is nothing. Change should not be feared. Change is an opportunity.”
“In my view this collaboration between Suning and Inter is very important, as it connects China to one of the most important clubs in Italian football,” said Zhenhua.
Suning Commerce Group are expected to buy 68.5 per cent of the Serie A club from Erick Thohir and Massimo Moratti (pictured).
“I don’t see what is happening as Suning taking control of the club, because football is global, so I see it more as a collaboration.
“I see many wonderful things in future, because football is a global sport and we’ll see what happens.
“On June 6 there will be a Press conference on the collaboration between Inter and Suning. As I am in Europe, I won’t be able to participate.
“My colleagues from the Chinese Football Association will be there.”
i find it a bit ironic people still think money is the problem when we spent a fucking ridiculous amount in the last transfer window and finished fourth with the same number of points as carpi in the second half (if i recall correctly). qpr, rangers, newcastle, sampdoria etc... we've spent a laughable amount of money since 2011 fighting for third. spending money is one thing, spending it well is another.
we'll see how competent they are if this deal goes down. i'm just going to be skeptical until reason to think otherwise (based on the probability suning knows how to build/run a football club and navigate through italian politics). its one thing to know what to do, its another to know how to do it. its not necessarily that black and white though, we'll see what happens.
What a disaster if Inter really gets sold to the Chinese. The club would be dead to me from that moment on. AGAINST MODERN FOOTBALL.
that article says moratti would be an advisor. it'd probably be similar to his honorary president status now
Fuck the present and the future. Long live the past!!!
