Exactly the reason for my question. Who are they expecting? I was google-ing to see what archenemies of theirs has Lopetegui coached or played for, thought I missed something, lol

I don’t think Lopetegui is as bad as some of you think, but it’s a sideways move from Pioli at best, probably a downgrade. This Milan with Lopetegui screams fighting for 4th.

He is average at best. Two underwhelming seasons at Porto. Then he went to Spain where he qualified to World Cup but he was dismissed on the eve of the tournament when Real announced he would take over after WC. Terrible spell at Real where he lost dressing room pretty fast. His only achievement is winning Europa League with Sevilla. One of many to do it. Not impressed.

There's a reason guy went from Real to Wolves.

Imagine you're fed up with your mediocre coach who has decades of experience in Italian football, and your management decides to replace him with a mediocre coach who has never step foot in Italy in his career.
