Man, Mourinho's stock has really fallen if Spurs is his best option.

He has restricted himself to Real Madrid, Inter and the London teams.

He's also not as good anymore and looks like he falls out of favour with players much easier nowadays.
I think people learn from him as well as from best coaches around..
So logically better coaches rises in place of the old

Mou s ideal team was inter 2010,
He got full support from the fans, management, and the players...

Just as Atalanta is a step above Inter, currently, judging by last year's standings...

I believe a better analogy of Tottenham and Man Utd in Italy would have been Napoli and Inter.

Presently ManU have better worldwide brand and more spending power than Tottenham. But since the latter has not been used properly, it's lost its advantage. I think Tottenham has better squad overall and better team management. Even without rebels like Eriksen and Alderweireld, they have much more suitable players for Mou's counter attacking tactics. Lamela, Ali, Son, Kane, Lo Selso and Moura should fit well as well as Dier, Wanyama, Ndombele and Winks as holding midfielders. Jose needs only few patches and to unite the team, which doesn't look as so impossible. If he gets quality support on the transfer market, he can turn this team into much better title's contender than his Man U side.

He celebrated those goals and everything but doesn’t look natural to see him there. Sad day.

When I first heard the news I was a bit disappointed he went there, but the more I've thought about it the more I've realized Tottenham is a much better fit for him than Man U was.

Great comeback in CL. Glad we won't get to play Spurs this year.

Mou talks about how difficult it is starting his Tottenham job at "minus 12", referring to the gap between Tottenham's points and 4th place at the time of his hiring. During this press conference he compared the difficulty of starting with a disadvantage to punished post-calciopoli Serie A teams, saying that you could see how a point deduction took a toll on players performances, all the while directly making note of juventus' relegation

Making excuses for himself? probably partly true, but I thought the sneaky jab at juve was funny.

"In one of the seasons in Italy, after Calciopoli when juventus was relegated, some other teams were not relegated but started the season with -10, -6 depending on how involved they were."

Good. Some EPL fans don't even know that juBe was relegated, it's good that filthy team gets the exposure they deserve, which is the truth about them.

He's not really that wrong.

Milan in 2006-7 was a non-factor in the league but ended up winning the Champions League. That shit affects you.

I'm not surprised that he's not saying "this is not my team", ie. <<I did not have a preseason with them>> because this is a CL finalist. Both are valid arguments.

It's still a bad choice for him imo, he should have waited until the summer but if he has the resources and the management's approval to do as he pleases, he'll become legendary over there as well.

I thought I'd never say it, but so far I'am glad Inter chose Conte over Mourinho.

It seems far fetched but I believe Mourinho's time is done, Why? Because in my opinion modern day footballers don't believe in his system anymore.

It seems far fetched but I believe Mourinho's time is done, Why? Because in my opinion modern day footballers don't believe in his system anymore.

Mourinho's main problem is choosing to work in the worst possible environments.

Man Utd is a corporation first, a marketing company second and a football club third. He was never going to find peace there.

Tottenham, especially in the middle of the season, while is a nice challenge for Mourinho, is still an odd choice. Their owner is cheap as fuck (if you read how many clubs he destroyed before settling at Tottenham you will be astounded), their players are demotivated and have been literally fighting each other over a couple of months before his arrival and their fans have some crazy unwarranted ambition that has been further fueled by their best season ever in Europe. It could make sense if he joined them end of May 2020, but in November it was just a bad choice.

He'd be much better off going to an ambitious Spanish or Italian team that wants to start over. Napoli or Milan if they had the backing could be interesting choices for him, again, during pre-season. Although I think he'd fail at both places because De Laurentis is losing the plot and Milan is in shambles and it would take more than a figure like Mourinho to fix them. So from Italy the only teams, other than Inter, that would make sense for him would be Fiorentina, with a page 0 situaton under a new owner. And Roma who are also in a bit of a mess and possibly under a new takeover now, since they pretty much ruined themselves with that Palotta guy.
And from Spain there's Valencia and possibly Betis. But I would have loved to see him in Athletic Bilbao.

Too bad that in this crazy football environment managers feel the need to be validated by a big fat check from a top 3-4-5 league and don't do some crazy moves that managers in the 60s, 70s, 80s and even 90s did.

Look at Bela Guttmann, the famous Benfica curse guy. He was in Italy, then moved to Cyprus because a friend of his (Joszef Kuntsler) was about to retire and invited him to take over. Not a long while later, he went to freaking Milan! After leaving Benfica he went to freaking Servette and then after several years he went to Greece for Panathinaikos because of the influence he had with that fellow Hungarian (who was originally PAO's coach in the 30s). Imagine Guardiola going to coach Grasshoppers after winning the CL with Barcelona and then going to Vicenza because Roberto Baggio told him to...

Helenio Herera. After leaving Inter in his second coming after a relatively bad season, he took a break and then ended up at fucking Rimini. Then what? Back to fucking Barcelona!

Other top names include Tomislav Ivic, who pretty much coached in every league there was to coach and Rinus Michels who was a legend at Ajax, successful at Barcelona and ended up somewhere in pre-MLS USA and was the first top coach for Bayer Leverkusen who were nobodies until a couple of seasons prior to that.

The only current manager that behaves this way is Marcelo Bielsa. Love him or hate him, he is truly the only old school guy out there. Mircea Lucescu was similar but other than joining us which was his highlight, he never stayed at the very top.

Now if you see Diego Simeone going to coach Sporting Lisboa or PSV or Pochettino going to coach in Brazil or Sweden people will be like WTF.

Nah, it would be the best choice for us.
But for him it was a good move and a successful one. What was the main problem was everything after Chelsea ever since. Even the second Chelsea stint was a bad idea but at least he managed to win something.

People say he has lost the plot and cannot motivate players and that shit are missing the big picture. Mourinho is the one who coached clubs that had no need for that, they needed baby sitters. Real Madrid needed him and he made them relevant again (3 times in a row semi finalists, it was since 2002-3 with Ronaldo I think that they had reached it the last time). And after that, they cemented themselves as contenders at the right time (FFP bullshit coming up and the football status quo becoming rock solid ever since).

He needed to go to a team that needed him, not to fulfill a random promise to Ferguson or "live in London" for his family.
