I thought we might end up with a draw, but after seeing how many chances we blew it is disappointing. A few thoughts:
-We really should have killed this game off. Ibra missed two excellent chances, Suazo had a half chance at the end there. They were very lucky to score off the defelection, but thats the risk you take by not making the most of your chances.
-Chivu and Samuel we're excellent in defense. Although we do lose a bit of attacking strength by dropping Maxwell, Chivu gives us alot more stability. Dont think he put a foot wrong all game. Samuel was up at his usual level, contender for MoM.
-Figo was doing well, hopefully the injury is not serious. If we've lost both him and Maicon, we will have some serious issues. It will, however, spell the end of the 442.
-Cesar did very little, should've been subbed for Maxwell or Solari. Seems his form is dipping, hopefully he can get back to where he was a few months back.
-All the talk from the Juve boys saying Inter were scared was shown to be bullshit at the final whistle. Look at the player reactions. Inter looked disappointed/upset with the result and walked straight off. Juve boys celebrated that they had managed to draw. They know we are (and were on the day) the better side.
-I know this gets brought up alot, but I think this was a good example of why Adri should be in the squad. Ibra had a good spell in the second half, but everyone could see that he was not on his game today. Chiellini dominated him, plus he was obviously putting himself under more pressure with the misses. Yet, Mancini persists with him and keeps him on until the end. Its not that bad a move though, because Crespo and Ibra are different strikers who play a different role. I'd say Crespo, Cruz and Suazo are our finishers (although Suazo did well today with the ball at his feet), while Ibra and Adriano are our more creative attackers. Had we replaced Ibra with Crespo at the end, it probably would not have been successful as neither Suazo or Crespo is erally able to spot and deliver the killer passes that Ibra, and to a lesser extent, Adri are. Once Juve equalised, I think giving Adri (whos performed well against Juve in the past) the last 10 minutes would have been a good option. Having him in the squad gives Mancio a similar replacement for Ibra, means we're less dependant on him having an excellent match.
-Nedved is a carnt.
-Captiano was excellent, I certainly hope he gets into coaching once he retires. Everywhere he plays he does really well, would have able to pass so much knowledge onto the team.
-Still not convinced by Mancini. I actually think he lacks the winning mentality that people often speak of. He was content at 1-0 to keep it there, bringing on Burdisso for Figo. Thats essentially playing a CB out of position for our most attacking midfielder. Solari/Maxwell would've been a better option, perhaps with Solari infront of Cambiasso in the midfield diamond. Then Dacourt for Maicon killed us, we lacked the pace and creativity required to challenge for the win. Mancio needs to show more confidence in the team, and push them to win every match. His dependance on Ibra was, once again, glaringly obvious and may have cost us in the end.
