I thought this was quite an interesting post and the truth be told, it can not be ignored. I am not sure how you can say that under Mancini, Cambiasso had no role. I thought his role was quite clear cut in that he was our first choice defensive midfielder, the player that marks our opponent's star player's out of matches and breaks up their play. As you would be well aware, Cambiasso's positioning and ability to read the play is strong as he quite often gets into positions where he scores goals.

I am not sure if you have mistaken Atalanta or Club Brugge for Inter but I think it is laughable to suggest that Cambiasso can not handle big pressure matches. The fact of the matter is that on occasions when Cambiasso has been missing from our midfield, the team has struggled.

With regards to him not being able to control the midfield, it has never been his job to do so. It was not his job at Real Madrid, it has not been his job for the Argentine National Team and it is not his job at Inter. Cambiasso is not a creative player and his strengths lie in his ability to defend, tackle, man-mark and contribute unexpected goals when the team is moving foward.

I agree that Lampard is the type of player that control a midfield and dictate the tempo of play. The truth be told, I have serious concerns about Mourinho's 4-3-3 formation because we simply do not have the personnel to make it happen. Vieria, Dacourt, Cambiasso, Captain Zanetti, Mancini, Pele, Jimenez, Figo, Muntari and Stankovic in his form present are not capable of achieving this and I sincerely think we are going to struggle as the squad is essentially built to play 4-4-2 or a derivative of that formation.

I think Cambiasso's strengths and weaknesses are well known to every poster on this forum. I believe his role under Mancini was clearly defined but that under Mourinho and a 4-3-3 formation, Cambiasso, and our midfield as a whole is going to struggle because we do not have the personnel to play that formation.

Lastly, I would just like to add that all the whining that has been going on about Lampard is quick sickening. We have been the Champions of Italy for the last three season's and we have been begging and grovelling Lampard to move from Chelsea to Inter. In light of the above post, I believe he or a similar player is needed but it disgusts me to see the Nerazzurri faithful pining over a Chelsea player who has opted for the comfort of what he knows (English football) and higher earnings over a new challenge in a league that has a different footballing philosophy. I am sure that Mourinho will overcome this problem but have some pride and forget about Frank Lampard.

Why do people always result to personal remarks when someone is making a point or remark on a player? I did not mistake anything,i watch the same inter matches everyone does, you have your opinions and i have mine, what the hell is wrong with you? Nobody here is close to an orgasm over lampard, what was mainly pointed out is that someone like lampard is needed and that our midfield isnt good enough for certain matches,if this really disgusts you and you are telling other people that because of their opinions they should have some pride then i dont really know what to tell you man, your post speaks for itself.

Again people are taking everything that is said point by point, Cambiasso is our MAIN DM,ok but is that really what he does in our games?Cambiasso is a 2 way midfielder and he doesnt excel in either one of those departments, what i see in the long run is a player that is totally lost and irrelevant to our midfield and when any pressure is presented he nor our midfield cant handle that.

In that cambiasso post i qouted from you, you say his role is to defend, man mark etc.. and contribute UNEXPECTED GOALS when the team is moving forward...lol Unexpected goals come from any player on the pitch, that is not a role of one player, that is the role of ANY player going forward when the team is moving forward, dont you see burdisso, samuel and cordoba scoring goals? If they werent defending well would you use theur UNEXPECTED goals as an excuse? and if cambiasso's role doesnt include taking over the midfield then who's role is it? Javier our main DM now? Or Vieira who seems to have lost the ability of controlling a midfield? Stankovic who seems to have lost all sense with a football? or Cambiasso who was actually placed as our main central midfielder and a player who you see always going forward but not doing nothing (Except get a couple of goals which offcourse will be used to praise the guy) and a person who he HIMSELF said that his favorite role is a PLAYMAKER which i think is the definition of what you said that was never his job?

dont think that is fair judgment on Lampard. Hes been faithful and professional Chelsea for eight years, his performance over the past season make him DESERVE the contract more than any other big names Chelsea signed.

Of course I dont know his personality but his work ethic and professionalism can be seen by all

My friend said that he seemed "too good" for everyone else. Don't know the accuracy on that though.

I'm not bashing the guy, I'm just bashing his football. He has been playing pathetic football for 2 years and you would give the armband to such a person?? Fuck me

Mourinho's words for Deki summed him up.

You are right about that, but what I wanted to point out that he could be a great captain.
I would give the armband to him immediately when Zanetti stops, but only if he would be a regular, with a decent performance.

So I think we're on the same line again.

Rewarding an under achiever with the captains armband isnt a signal you want to give out to the rest of the players..

Plus the captain should be someone who is always assured of a playing time.Stan in the past two years was assured a place by the coach and the not so talented alternatives in midfield.

I don't know if you are talking to me particular or just overall, but if you read my post again, you can see that I say only if he performed better and was a starter more often.

When Zanetti leaves in 2 years (like he said he would), I expect the armband to go to Cambiasso or Maicon. Some one who is loved by all and is invovled in every build up.

Apparently Scolari has said lampard is with them for the next few days but he doesn't know there after.

Boas(Mou analyst) got thrown out of the hotel were chelsea were staying in moscow. They are shit scared of him.:D

Are you sure about the translation. I read that too but no fuss has been risen in the media about that comment so I put the google translator in doubt regarding the translation. Of course very interesting if true.

Haha Boas. :dielaugh:

Yuko can go and do his happy streak across Cyprus. Lampard won't be coming to Inter.

LAMPARD SIGNS NEW FIVE YEAR DEAL

Posted on: Wed 13 Aug 2008
Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce today (Wednesday, August 13) that Frank Lampard has signed a new five year contract.
The new deal will keep Lampard at the club until the end of the 2013-14 season.
Lampard said: 'I want to finish my career at Chelsea. It is something I've said many times and after signing this contract I am very happy and positive I will finish as a player here. I want to be a big part of the next five years and hopefully more for Chelsea.
'It has taken a while to get the deal done and there has been a bit of compromise on both sides but I am delighted we have managed to get there.
'The Chelsea fans have been great to me and I want to repay them for their support. I am very confident that I can maintain a very high level of performance for the next five years. I am really looking forward to the new season under the new manager and with our new players and the current squad there is a great feeling we can build on the successes of the last few years.'
Luiz Felipe Scolari said: 'I am delighted that Frank has committed his future to the club. He is a key player for me and vital to Chelsea's future successes. Frank is one of the best professionals I have worked with. Every day he tries to learn something and bring new elements to his game.'
Lampard signed for Chelsea in the summer of 2001, and is the latest player to commit his long term future to Chelsea this summer after Petr Cech, Michael Essien and Wayne Bridge all put pen to paper on new contracts.
Chelsea Chief Executive Peter Kenyon said: 'It is great news for Chelsea that Frank has signed for the next five years. He is a key member of our team and has been instrumental along with others in our success in the last five years.
'His record of appearances and goals is unparalleled for a midfielder. Being a top English player as well is important to us. We have a significant English element to our squad and that is a central part of our philosophy for the club.
'We are very confident Frank can stay at the top level for the next 5 years. It's taken us a bit of time to get an agreement so this is a real boost going into the new season and with Felipe coming in there is a really positive atmosphere surrounding the club.'
The midfielder has scored 110 goals in 369 appearances at the club, including 71 in 247 league games.
At present, Lampard is Chelsea's seventh top scorer of all time, the only midfielder in the top ten, and also the only player in his position to have scored four goals in a match for the Blues, a feat he achieved in March at home to Derby County.

He has signed a five-year-deal with Chelsea so we can forget he will play for us either now or in the future.

Luka's "Guy" sucks. :D
