His link up with Messi was great during copa America so hopefully he can sort that out with more time

If he is going to play with Messi, then sure.
It's more of a chemistry thing than a quality.

Lautaro gets the job done
The fact that he won a header against while Cerri is 20cm taller speaks for itself. He wanted it, the goal may be very weird but that's ok.

Lacked some chemistry with Lukaku but I think the two of them are willing to play together and seeing a lot of movement and deviation as they provide is good for us. I like him because he doesn't hide himself, and with us coming from Icardi who builds a castle in the area and still playing the uruguayan ghost in the midfield, it's a great improvement.

He didn't really win the header. Cerri got to it first and Lautaro deflected it towards the goal somehow.

Your point stands though, he can compete for those aerial duels.

I think he needs to learn again basic skills, like ... simple pass

Thankfully he got the goal yesterday to ease the pressure. I think he has been nervous playing since the lecce game. perhaps because this season he became a sure starter and is expected to create something every game, unlike last year.

You can advocate that he gets the job done, but if it was not for that lucky goal everyone would be tearing him apart here for the other moments. He is very shaky and seems too tired for someone his age who had a long ass vacation. His poor passing is one thing but what is actually lighting up my spidey senses is his off the ball movement. He lacks that illusion of contortionism, the ability to fool the defender by appearing to go in one direction with his body language only to switch into the opposite direction instantly. After seeing Icardi excel at that, it's very obvious that Lautaro doesn't have that in his football vocabulary.

I don't doubt his talent as I'm sure that he can be great with us, but I don't exactly see a linear upward line in terms of his development as of late.

What? He does quite a lot of that. He found himself in quite a few dangerous positions last night i thought, but just lacked that killer ball/touch. It was a disappointing game overall but he was 5 or 10% off being lethal, not 40% imho.

Remember in a striker we arent necessarily looking for consistent brilliance, but the ability to heavily influence the match and create just 3 or 4 really dangerous chances.

He didn't have the same preparation as the others though, which is also the reason why Barella is on the bench. I think that he is still building up some confidence because last year was complicated for him sometimes.

He seems like a guy who has potential but would just rather throw fits and just dive straight into the turf like its an ocean, he will do well at Barca or PSG in the future.

I know, but I thought it would look funny when you put it out of the context.

he was a lot of times free to be honest, he was not "lost" like a lot of people said (or like someone said "a tipical icardi game" :yao:) he and Lukaku need still to improve together. But they have both good potential, it's so refreshing to see a 2 man forward like the good old days.

The goal was more lucky than anything else I think. It wasn't even a pure header by Lautaro, as the other player hit the ball very little, but either way he was spot on in timing/place. I love his grinta through the game, but the way he gives away the ball easily is something which he has to improve A LOT, because he has done it last season as well.

But it's very important that he scored, as that can serve as morale booster for him. I don't expect big things from him anytime soon, since I do think he is still too raw and nowhere near to carry Inter attack on his shoulder, but surely he has almost everything what it takes to become a great striker, so he just needs to play it simple and work hard.

At least we will have Alexis from now on, so it's good that we can choose between Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez, Lautaro and Poilitano as well.
