? That's ALL we've done lately. We've just done a shit job of it.
I don't think we have. We've played lethargic maybe, with not enough energy when going forward. But we haven't played defensively with a clear plan to do fast counters. We have our fullbacks going up quite early in our buildup phase and they are high up the pitch when we lose the ball in opponent's side and sometimes they are just so late. We have the mentality to control the game, to run the match. But we are so vulnerable to counters it's fucking sickening. I know football tactics is all about how much risk you take at which areas of the pitch and when. IMO we are not doing a good job in that, specially in recent months.
We need to change our mentality that now we are defending and hitting them at counters. Of course we need to be strong and decisive in our half and be ready to attack when the opening comes. But I wouldn't try to control the match with ball possession against Lazio. We are still not good enough at ball possession, we make too much too easy errors with the possession that even smaller teams can punish us with counters (we don't have Handa, remember people that), so we can only guess what Lazio can do.
