All we need to do is show Messi a clip of Conte's Italy at Euro 2016. He can be the Eder to Lukaku's Pelle :yao:

Opened (for shit and giggles).

This is against the forum policy of not opening a named thread for every player mentioned in the rumors.

We consider this a special occasion so here we go (not that!).

This nigga thinks his Fabrizio romano

do what juve did with ronaldo - sponsorship directl yto him from the parent company. Suning could give him a 60m a year contract to endorse their products and inter pays him 10m a year.

Infact this is MASSIVELY tax favourable, I thought international income is only taxed up to a limit of like 300k in Italy? Cafe do you remember the specifics?

you've missed my point - my point is that messi going means barca's financial situation is suddenly turned on its head entirely. His wage alone is something like 17-20% of their total gross expenditure I think, which means their wages to turnover ratio goes from 70% to 50%. That puts thme better than Man City or Man Utd, probably not a million miles away from Tottenham. They can suddenly spend money. If Suarez and Vidal go too, you're talking probably 170-220mil euros a year of cashflow freed up.

That's their plan.

But that's also irrelevant. The appeal of Barcelona was to play for the best and with the best. They are not the best. And they won't have the best after the next few days once Barcelona understand that they must say goodbye.

Why would Lautaro move to Barcelona without Messi when the whole idea was that he'd play with Messi?

Barcelona is still a very appealing team and can sign almost everyone they want, but their new direction says "no big transfers" and a more sensible approach while they offload all their huge contracts.

All Spanish sides are facing immense financial issues. Malaga is literally closing shop, Valencia is having a yard sale, the minnows are trying to breathe while Atletico and Real have not made one sound in the mercato yet. And probably won't. The biggest coup in Spain so far is David Silva to Sociedad and a dodgy FFP deal between Pjanic and Arthur.

TBH you're always going to get flukes in the CL - the best way to size it up is to ask who the best set of teams are. victory is always possible, but improbable.

You'd want to be a top ~4 team maybe to have a real shot? So in the CL next year you've got Barca, Real, Bayern, Liverpool, PSG, Juventus, Man City. I'd say all of those teams are better than us. Yes, we could absolutely beat most of them on a good day, but I wouldn't bet on money on it myself.

We're between the Lyon/Leipzigs (in principle) and the top tier like I've named before, which means we're really unlikely to win the CL. Had we won the EL, we might have a chance with being pot 1.

For now I'd just like to get out of the group stages...

You're COOKED if you think Barca without Messi are better than us...any of our CBs would start there, Frenkie the only one in their midfield who would start for us with Coutinho roughly equal to Erikson, and I would argue Lautaro/Lukaku/Messi > Dembele/Griez/Fati (Suarez is gone too)

Barca is done unless they invest heavy into the RIGHT players..they need a lot of help now

honestly, if he was going to earn double or triple what he'd make at Inter, and be the heart of a new revolution at Barca with hundreds of millions invested, I can see the temptation.

Dont get me wrong, who knows, just speculating.

Either way, the point was, Barca without Messi and Vidal and Suarez have SERIOUS money to throw around.

Could we not do something like...

Inter salary
Suning salary from advertising there merch or some shit like that?

Someone mentioned earlier about Pirelli helping but they are pretty much out the door in terms of what they can offer us vs what we want.

Coutinho's doing bbetter than Eriksen atm, there's no doubt about that. Lautaro, etc, on their day maybe, bbut it depends which Lautaro shows up.

The thing is, as I've posted above, without Suarez and Messi ONLY they free up like 3-3.5mil a week alone in wages. That's like 180mil a year of amortisation cost + wages. The entire Inter squad right now is 215mil a year of amortisation+wages cost...

Huawei can pay his salary for a sponsorship/ambassador agreement. Suning will just pay for smartphone shipments that are either way over market price or arent delivered. its China, nobody would ever know,

Indeed they do. But knowing their current management, they'll waste it and fast.

I'd predict that they'll go for targets like Gabriel Jesus, Van der Beek, Skriniar since we're selling and maybe try to bring Neymar back to gain more traction, maybe have a Brazilian trident up front since Coutinho may be sticking around.

But they do not really have the funds. They are in a mess in that regards and sponsorship money will dwindle without Messi. Their spending power is getting much weaker which is why they are in a hurry to cut their expenditure to the maximum.

You make the presumption that their budget will remain the same, expecting that they'll have 100-200m to reinvest. They won't really have that available. Not sure to what extend they will, but it's possible that they won't be able to make huge moves even if they get rid of everyone, unless they receive 200-250m in sales.

i dont know the barca sponsorship structure to know how closely tied it is to messi, tbh. I assume they dont have many deals that coincidentally run out this year - if not, then they'll have cash to splash for a while. I thought someone said Messi held 100% of his image rights, too? Obviously Messi leaving WILL dent Barca, but it wont necessairly be overnight
