This Essien? Hard to tell, probably No. Slow, clumsy and shadow of the player he was. He was below Mikel, Romeu, Raul Meireles in the pecking order.

I prefer cash or Torres for him. We don't really need MFs and we are getting rid of a player we don't want for a player they really don't need. They aren't going to give us a starter for him so any ideas of 26 year olf Ramires are insane. Best bet is they give us money+ Romelu Lukaku who had a awful 1st season there and is young/won't play for us either/f up Longo time. I don't really like any of their defenders and most of their players just make way too much money. Only other Chelsea player I like is Athletico Madrids goalie that I am positive they are not looking to sell.

8m for a guy earning 4m+ net who hasn't been performing to his level for last two years, primarily because of disinterest I would grab it.
I was reading a stat on a Chelsea site on how Maicon's average performance has been over last two years. When he had the luxury of having a 5/6 day rest before the match day, he usually has been above average to good. In games where he has had less than 4 days rest he has been average to bad.
In short age has started taking a toll on his body (unlike Zanetti and Ze Roberto). He needs longer recovery time before games, which means that we would need another very good RB to cover for him. Given the salary he is making we just cannot afford it.
Thanks for the memories, you were the best not so long ago and wish you success in Chelsea shirt as long as it isn't against Inter.

10 years of FIFAnd what's wrong with that? Read Aby's and necrodragon's posts where there are argumented very well why team's aren't willing to offer more. You have to try to see the situation from their perspective too.
Actually, think about at Inter's perspective if we didn't have Maicon. Would you pay over 10m€ for 31-year-old Maicon with big wages?

Meh, this money won't be re-invested in quality so I'm having a hard time being happy about this.
We finished 6th last season and the squad will be considerably weaker next season. I have no idea why did they keep 32 year old Chivu and bought 30 year old Palacio and gave them big wages. I would rather keep Maicon over spending transfer money for Palacio+wages on those two.

10 years of FIFMaicon and Sneijder are the best players in the team and we are not linked (and we are definitely not buying) any player on his level, so that makes us a worst team than before, and Branca having 8 millions it's dangerous, it could be invested in shit players like Mariga.

10 years of FIFMaicon's level varies so much during the season that we can't say anymore he's the best RB or even the second best. His motivation level has clearly dropped at Inter so it's better for everyone that he will have a new chance at somewhere else. If he's that beast in 4 matches in a season (against Juve and Milan x 2) and otherwise just a lackluster, it's better to let him go.
