simply, Maicon is a modern RB.

defensive abilities? not as good as il capitano, but for sure, he's more effective than Zanetti when he goes forward.

He runs alot, you can see him everywhere on the right flank.

You can say he's more like Maxwell, but I think he's better and stronger.

I really think that Maicon has been the pleasant suprise of all these games we suffered in.You can see also he is trusted at the back and going forward.

I really hope that Maicon can impress in right wing. I personally am skeptical that Figo will continue defying his age and am not expecting much from him next season. However, we have Zuperman in right-back and only Kryptonite will allow Maicon to have a run in that position.

I think Figo will lose his starting job. And we will play 4 3 3. ANd Maicon will get plenty of chanches to play. Can not wait that season starts

Well if you weren't impressed then you need to watch them again, or a pair of glasses :D

His defensive game is not perfect but the guy made a strong impact and he's obviously earning the trust of his teammates. They were constantly looking for him during the game vs JuBe.

Hopefully I'll be able to get myself an impression of the guy today as I'm going to see Norway-Brazil live. If anybody wants, I could report back on what I see. If he comes on that is.

i was very impressed with him at first but im having my doubts now after watching the games he featured in but its not right for me to judge him too early,so i really hope he plays well for brazil in the upcoming friendly.he has to work hard in defence to win a place in inter line up.

Maicon came on on about 50 minutes. Didn't make to much noise, but intercepted Norway left winger Gamst Pedersen nicely in a move that could've been dangerous. But he did play a fundamental part in the Brazilian's goal, hooking back a cross into the box so that Daniel Carvalho could hit home. All in all, a decent performance, but I haven't formed a definite picture of him yet.

Btw, hope we never ever in history even thinks of being interested in PSV keeper Gomes. Man, he was shitty throughout the whole 90 minutes.

Well, Gomes did have 1 or 2 saves. I agree on the verdict on Maicon, but since Brazil weren't too fantastic over all I think he did pretty well. Norway played better than they've done in a very long time, and Maicon did improve the Brazilian right side a bit.

Nordmann.. ;)

Fact is that Gomes didn't manage to get one single goal kick not going out for a Norwegian throw-in.

I'm not denying it. He was crap, but did manage a couple of saves. Actually, that probably made the over all performance of the Brazilian back-line less secure than it would with a decent goalkeeper, including Maicon.

Those weren't very difficult to make. I remember he was out in the middle of nowhere at Norway's first two throw-ins. Suddenly, everyone was questioning where the goalie was.

Maicon has the best name of the whole squad! Sisenando! Isn't that unique? Ability-wise, he reminds me of Hatem Trabelsi. However, Cicinho still has my heart for the next Selecao right back. :)

Uniquely Sisenando.

Lol! I'm not trying to defend him, just saying that he was not 100% incompetent. He was crap, we agree on that. I don't really think we disagree at all. And Maicon was fair enough, which is much more important for us!
