The type of rumors linking Brozo to Barca were usually along the lines of “Idea: Kessie and Brozovic swap.” Or them considering signing him on a free. Very different to the links with Lautaro a few years ago for example.
Dude, let's not consider the wording in the rumor sites as proof of the strength of interest.

brehme listed there quite a different set of clubs interested in Brozovic over the years.

In my mind, it was clear Barca had some kind of desire for Broz, but it was also partly influenced by a plusvalenza thing - both players are basically book value 0, so a swap at 30m valuation gives both clubs serious plusvalenza. I think Broz probably fits their needs a bit better too

From Sport Italia

"In the last few hours, the transfer market continues to offer surprises with Mateo Kovacic who will become a new Manchester City player and, with Marcelo Brozovic, in the crosshairs of Al Nassr and Barcelona, with the Saudi club that would have offered the Inter midfielder more than double the salary compared to what was proposed by the blaugrana... waiting to find an agreement with the Milanese team. For the former Chelsea and Inter player, team-mate of the Nerazzurri number 77, the Citizens will pay the Blues a total amount, between the fixed part and the bonus, of around 35 million euros. Between 20 and 25 million could be enough for Brozovic: but are we sure that one of the Nerazzurri's symbolic men is worth less than Kovacic?

Considering the last few seasons of the 1992 class, the answer seems rather obvious, given the qualities demonstrated first with Antonio Conte and then with Simone Inzaghi: a Scudetto, two Italian Cups, two Italian Super Cups and a Champions League final... always as a protagonist. Difficult, if the negotiation with Al Nassr goes through, to replace someone like Brozo, the beacon of the Nerazzurri midfield. Flexibility is one of its main characteristics: for him the form doesn't make the difference. In these seasons with the Nerazzurri, always growing, he has implemented and improved his game regardless of the position in which he is deployed.

Versatility, continuity of performance and metronome of the nerazzurri as well as of the Croatian national team absolute protagonist in recent years at European and World level: second place in Russia 2018, third in Qatar 2022, round of 16 at Euro 2020 and 2016, in addition to second place in the last Nations League lost on penalties against Spain. An important loss for Inter with Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio forced to replace him properly in a football where money continues to make the difference..."

I think that Croats are massively underrated. Imagine if Brozo or Kova were fucking Brasilians or British. Kova would be worth 60 and Brozo 70 mill minimum. Fuck this shit.

Seeing Brozovic playing in some nothing Saudi league for big money while he's still a top footballer would make me sad.
If we're deadset an offloading him, I hope an actual competitive squad comes forward with a sufficient offer.

Kovacic is in his last year of contract and be wants to leave. Plus he was bought for 40m when he was young, I don't think being a Croat has anything to do with it.

Exactly. It is the same thing as Artur and Pjanic. They want plusvalenza.

I get this dude is on crazy high wages..... but he has been the engine of this team for over 5 seasons. He was injured and the WC being in December hurt him. Selling him for scraps will be a massive massive mistake. I rather lose him for free than accept 15m for him

Why would I not consider the wording in the rumor? We consider that and the source all the time when we post rumors on this forum or decide to open or close threads.

Koulibaly is sold for 25m there. Why should Brozo be sold for less? Why is Koulibaly more expensive than him, he is two years older, and is a defender out of form.

What good 18m will do for Inter? Not enough for any replacement and lose Brozovic.
One of brozos main attributes is the fact that he never stops running..... hes 30 soon 31 he smokes(atleast occasionaly) he s a bit crayze he tends to bitch if things dont go his way. Thr dude was almost out of inter cause for his first years he could not get his shit together... yes partially our coaches fault...
I mean look at radja...similar dude in terms of attitude partying and lfestyle.... how did us paying 30 plus work out.....

Also no where do i say we should sell him for 18...
All i m saying it s kind of understandable that no european club is willing to throw significant money at him.
Anyays it s obviously a idiot move of us to not milk more money from the saudis

You guys keep mentioning the "he smokes" part as it's the end of the world.

Let's say he smokes, like 10 cigs a day or whatever... What's the deal? He's been smoking (as you guys say) and covering more distance than everyone else in our club who never smoked and everyone else in Croatia who never smoked as well.

Second - he is 30. 30 years old. Not 40, not 50... 30. He will be the same anorexic looking motherfucker for the next 3 years.

I'd rather we lose Calha for free than Brozo for less than 40/50m (given he wants to go play there for that massive salary bump).

Smoke or no smoke... Pizza or no pizza... Alco... Rakija or no rakija - he's been always professional as fuck for us and his country.

I can't get over the fact that him being 30 is considered as a big argument against him. He is a midfielder, not some speed relying winger .... Biabiany or idk someone like that.

We're gonna lose a very rare player type. Usually these kinds of players posses zero of his technical abilities....

But what do I know...

Brozovic had a 40m release clause, I believe, at that point in time. E.g. Man Utd runmours? And no one paid it. I'd have to check exactly when it was exactly
if I read one more time this same shit I am gonna lose my mind...ok we get it, he had release clause, no one payed, move on
