He played well but how can you miss that chance in 62 minute.. Horror stuff.
Any forward can miss such a chance. For instance, Thuram missed an open net recently. The problem with Arnautivic is that he is missing those opportunities quite often.
Let's hope that next few matches as a.starter to have a positive impact on his mentality.

During the absence of Thuram this guy must show he’s worthy of our shirt and capable of wearing it also next season.

Yesterday he played really well, but you can’t keep missing sitters like this. You’re a striker for fuck sake.

I want to hate this guy but I really can't.

He fucks up a lot but he also gets into the chances way more than Thuram. His positioning and link-up is awesome, it's just that he can't close the deal to save his life. And if we are being honest, every harsh comment that goes to him about last night should also immediately go to Lautaro as well who had just as many great chances.

While I obviously hate that Thuram got sidelined, it puts Arnautovic in a perfect situation to repair himself mentally - scoring a goal in CL and facing a streak of relatively easy opponents where he is bound to get major minutes.

Do people realize how difficult this is?

The next one sure, after a brilliant move and combination with teammates, should have been at least a shot on target. But the first one got people upset and even if I know better I'm wondering if y'all are for real...

Yep, I don't see many forwards in the world finishing that consistently, would maybe even say there isn't such player.

To me he played very well, given it was a "surprise" sub in. He was ready, he was ready to play and he played. He was useful, was inside the game and only thing he couldn't manage to do right was scoring the goal. Which he eventually then managed to do to win us the game.

That second chance was awful but it is what it is. :D

I really hope he gets confidence from that goal as it was the last of those 3 chances he got and it win us the game. The goals will come if he's getting them at this rate and being there to get the chance is the first thing you need to score in the first place.

Remember Eto'o was missing a lit at first, he missed a crazy chance against Juventus, but then he started.

I hereby really doubt that Arna will do the same 😀

Yeah that first one was really difficult. That second one was setup by himself, but he must really score these kind of changes. There is a pattern here.

I also remember a ball brought in from the wings where he just had to put a feet against it and a header where he completely mistimed.

This dude needs to smoke weed before games.. he’s so fucking tense. He really wants to succeed here though and works really hard to be where he needs to be to get those chances.

I don’t believe his finishing is that bad though and I’m actually looking forward to him getting consistent time. We badly need a third striker that can score regularly and our midfield showed yesterday it’s capable of setting up good chances for that third striker.

Marko it’s your time to shine!

Yeah, the start vs Lecce makes sense. Disagree with prematch bong hits though, he maybe distracted looking for munchies in the stands instead.

He finally looked like he care. Maybe it sounds weird to some but to me it was by far his best game this season. Saying that as his hater (my "hate" is usually related to how players are performing and/or acting so it's on them basically) and despite him missing so many chances yesterday. If he can continue like this + not waste that many chances he will be useful option from the bench.
Seriously, this is absurd reasoning. Defending a forward, whos main job is to score goals by saying 'he is ok, he's just awful at scoring goals' aka his main job.

Its like talking about a chef saying 'hey, he is great buying the right foods and sharpening his knives, his only fault is that he cant actually cook'...

Like thats some minor thing... STOP DEFENDING THIS ABOMINATION OF A PLAYER.
I remember someone, maybe it was even you, saying same thing about Lautaro year or two ago and advocating to sell him or to buy a better striker cause of that. Pretty sure no one have this crazy ideas now. This prick will for sure never be as important as Lautaro but cmon, you can't judge forwards ONLY on goals. There must be more. Lukaku had goals and not much else most of the time. I guess that was the reason why many overrated him back then.

If you have played football yourself, you know that that first chance is a very difficult one. It was nice to see that the stadium went crazy with the missed chances, but certainly got behind him after the second missed chance. First the anger/frustration about missing the opportunity and then 30 seconds later making an incredible amount of noise and supporting him.

Even though Arnautovic is almost at retirement age, this is hopefully a victory for him mentally. Because what is certain is that he wants too much to be decisive for Inter, which sometimes breaks him down.

He worked hard and had some good link up play. If he scores half the chances he gets, I will be satisfied at the end of the season.

If he plays like against Atletico I am not worried about missing Thuram against Lecce or Atalanta. But IF he plays..

his finishing aside, his performance was solid and he shouldn't make it hard for himself. he should just relax and try to enjoy playing then scoring will come to him automatically

Marko Arnautovic turned out to be the matchwinner for Inter in their 1-0 victory over Atletico Madrid in the first-leg last-16 clash in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. The striker came off the bench and although he missed two clear-cut chances, he made up for it by scoring the winner. However, TNT Sports pundit Michael Owen was shocked by an attempted no-look finish before his goal.

Owen, who had earlier critiqued a finish from Liverpool's Darwin Nunez, was baffled as to why the striker attempted such a shot at a key point in the match.

"There was a bit of arrogance," he told TNT Sports. "No-look pass and I believe there's a no-look finish as well here. Your head is a heavy part of your body and that would distribute your weight backwards.
"As soon as he turns his head, his chest goes backwards, his body goes back and what happens: the ball goes over. There's no need to do any no-look of anything in front of the goalkeeper. Keep your head, keep everything over the ball and score a goal.
"I thought there was a tiny bit of arrogance in that finish."
The Austria international replaced Marcus Thuram at the break and although he missed a host of chances before grabbing the winner, he was constantly involved in the action and added an extra dimension to Inter's game.
Speaking after the game, Owen and fellow pundit Joe Cole praised Arnautovic for his impact from the bench.
"He did make a difference," Owen explained. "There were a couple of things he should've done better with but he made the difference.

"You can miss chances, it's about getting in there when you miss to still have the courage to do so and eventually it came for him. But he was involved in all of the best things in the second half."
Cole said: "He's a real maverick. He's one of those players who can come on and make the difference. It's a fantastic redemption story, he started at Inter Milan, young team with him, Zlatan [Ibrahimovic], Mario Balotelli.
"Imagine those three characters as young players trying to learn their way. His career sort of petered off [but] he's had a fantastic career - Stoke, West Ham - and he's come back.
"As a 34-year-old man, he's scored goals everywhere he's gone because of his talent, not necessarily because of his diligence. I saw a bit of humility in him [with] the way he was playing, he's back at a massive club, he probably sees this as a chance he didn't see happening.
"[He's] in a fantastic team where he can win a league title and maybe a Champions League. I saw a little bit of humility, and there's one thing that's never been in doubt: his ability with a football to make things happen. He made the difference today."

Rumor is Sanchez will start against Lecce. Not sure if this is the right move after he got the goal against Atletico. He only played 45 minutes. I guess Inzaghi wants to save him for Atalanta.

Most probably Inzaghi will introduce him for Lautaro in second half to save some energy for both of them. That plan is not bad at all.
