They had chances even without Milito, Alvarez, or Pazzini. Instead Ranieri goes 4-4-2 and effectively kills the attack. Even with how bad our form has been, Marseille is not good and Ranieri did nothing to punish them. The guy is scared to win.

I'm half with you.

After losing 2 games AT HOME to BOLOGNA & NOVARA...I can understand why Raineri went with an extra cautious approach. This is where I disagree with you.

Where I do agree with you...is after half time. We were the better team. With better chances. With 2 players who were playing really well up front, Forlan and Sneijder. This is where Raineri should have said...

"Great job so far lads, it's scoreless, let's go out there and try pinch a goal. We are the better team, let's try for a 1-0 or a 1-1 because that's better than 0-0"

Where does people's optimism come from? I would love to know.

Its great to say, Inter makes chances, and Milito and Forlan and Pazzo will score in 3 weeks. But the reality is, we squander, WASTE, our chances regularly. The only solution is to create more chances, and change personnel. To score the chances we need to change personnel (i.e. buy top players), and to make more chances we need to change personnel.

So... yeah. Its on Moratti and Branca, and oh yeah, one more thing, the transfer window shut 3 weeks ago.

One does not:

-play Zanetti in MF
-play Deki and Chivu at all
and a Zanetti-Deki-Cuchu mf while at it
-Zarate who doesn't play 10 games before and sudenlly he gets to play the big one
- a Forlan and Zarate partnership because they don't have chemistry
-Get satisfied with a 0-0

and can expect to get away with it.Can he? :eek:blivious:

+Sneijder wtf man :serious: Don't know what you're doing lately...

ranieri: "It doesn't end here, there are still 90 minutes to play. What will we do in the return leg? Go on the attack... patiently"

F off.. we all know your gonna play 8 defensive players, sneijder and a striker.. fool

A bitter end to a game we all felt we deserved more out of it.

Overall, a slightly above average performance. Nothing spectacular was ever required, just a result. Losing 1-0 away given the circumstances isn't that difficult of a result to overturn.

The goal: I cant really completely blame Chivu for it. There were two defenders at the near post, 85% Lucio, that couldn't clear the cross and even Cesar's positioning+hesitation was questionable, in fact almost any ball on target, away from where he was standing, would've went in. Chivu had a decent game, he was tough, tenacious and showed some heart and determination, something some other players might consider instead of whining and complaining.

What we've learned:
-Forlan looks good, he's made good runs when he could and he's played the whole 90. Yes, he lacked a better partner up front.
-Obi's sub stabilized the team for the better part. He was industrious and provided help on both ends.
-Cambiasso offers so much more when not being restricted defensively.
-Sneijder was good too, especially considering the limited outlets he had. Again, nothing spectacular was asked from the team today. He found his targets.
-Ayew did caused us problems with his height. Ranocchia might be a better challenge for him but his lack of concentration sometimes causes second thoughts.
-Our genuine lack of flank players continue to restrict and hurt us.

The 3rd sub:
-Milito was part of the stabilizing tactic that Obi achieved. Also, most likely he was going to take Forlan's place and not have two strikers like most suggest (wish) but Forlan actually got on with it.
-It would also be difficult to judge how Pazzini would've performed but looking at how the team was set up I don't think he would've added much at all.
-Other than that, the team looked defensively sound so why change the defensive unit around?
-Also, the idea of running down the clock before the last corner and pretty much just using the sub since we still had one, the ref would have had OM take their corner anyway and that would mean that a player would have to leave the box area and OM would take it before the other player was anywhere near the box, quite pointless but they still scored.

Man of the Match: Moratti. Just the fact that he was there speaks volumes.

Until next time,
Forza Inter!!!

I agree with most of what you say, I need to see the goal again but I also thought Julio Cesar could had done more with the cross, it wasn't too far from him was it? The only thing I disagree is about Obi stabilizing the team, I actually thought we looked worse with him but it was probably necessary cause Zarate looked very tired.

Umm where exactly did I talk about Champions League or Scudetto.. I was referring to the team playing with heart.. As mentioned here:

You need the jaws of life to remove the pole stuck up your ass these days Mr. Teen Angst. What those posts say is the equivalent to "I hope the whether favours us". No one honestly believe(s/d) that little boy is/was going to give the team remotely any kind of boost.
