Just as I thought the win vs juve was a flash in the pan. ZAC is still an average coach who is only good when he has all or almost all of his players availble. I bet you capello would love to have the subs we have here at roma. But he doesn't and I have never heard him blame losses on injuries. Injuries are part of the game.

This performance doesnt take anything from what Zac has done on Sunday because players are tired...What Capello has over Zac is that he would have dealt with the VDM situation better like he did with Cassano and Zambrotta...He would put his foot down immediately and then move on immediately after showing the players whose boss.

Or that Capello would achive more than just two victories over the worst Juve team in years?

No excuses now. More or less a full team and we get beaten. Zac is out of excuses and it´s about time that our management start to realise it.

I missed this game and I don't regret it. We didn't manage to score away and we are down 1-0. Hopefully at the San Siro we can dominate and go through. And I'm already thinking less of Zac. I guess beating Juve really caused us to say things all through emotion huh :D

I wonder if Scolari is still available ;) :D :p

I really think we need a bit of flair upfront, Van der Meyde anyone?

Was he sponsored to wear these boots? :yuck:

They are custom-made football boots to help his ankle, many athletes get imports of these every year...

Some comments...

Zac, use VDM! Why? Where would he fit in?

It´s obvious Zac hates VDM! Who doesnt after his comments? I couldn´t care less if we decide to sell him.

Inter´s bench was full of world class players! I only know two, Emre and Gamarra. Gamarra was on the field, so was Emre.

Farinos for Almeyda, Emre for Karagounis when we need to score? Isn´t it obvious that Zac tryed to get the balance into the field? When team is balanced, we play better and actually could create some scoring chances. Almeyda was kinda poor today and Farinos was great against Juve. Good substition.

If we would have attack more, we could have lost more. Losing away match 1-0 isn´t that bad. We are still in the race. We have lost nothing yet.

very saddening defeat... agree with interforeva that they definitely gonna score against us in the return leg, so we probably need 3 or more goals to qualify... this may be a difficult feat... but i hope we can perform and win the return leg...

= i didn't watch the game, no TV here broadcasted this game.. It looks like we didn't have a good game..
I was awake when the games started but fell asleep 15 minutes later and let scarpini reported the game in italian.. alone in my room.. I saw our line up and the result of this game was actually not a surprise for me...
= I saw Vieri and Martins fielded again....
we never really perform better when we field the same midfielders and forward two games in a row...
Matrix and Recoba's injury surely make this worse...
= We usually play an uggly game after a huge game within 3 or 4 days period), i didn't remember which game we played after copa's semi, but I do remember we sucked big time at that game..
Remember reggina's clash right after benfica's game ?... we won that game out of luck and defended the whole match...
= So getting to play two games every week at the highest level is still a big problem for us..
= I think we should dare to field less star player like Cruz and pasquale/brechet to cover up for fatigue players..
it's a very risky business.. but we have learn doing it...
= I am not too surprised with result, I thoght i draw was a good result....
down 0-1 is not good but not the end of the world...
= Next time we play, Vieri will have to be rested for marseille game..,
martin-vieri for the mid weeks game, recoba-adriano for the weekend game.. kara will play in the mid week as stan can't...
while almeyda-farinos-christiano-emre will have to be rotated and fielded when they are fresh... we don't have many stable choices at the wing and central defenders..., so it's a huge problem for zac....
= I'm a bit worried for the next match, but i think we'll go to that game much more prepared.. besides our last weekend game was against juve..
= I do believe VDM should be fielded, but I do not think his entrace would make much difference

Internazionale
I just finished watching the game and i saw the old inter: Confusion, hopeless long-passes and tons of wild tackles. The only positive thing from the game is that Drogba was booked after his excessive celebrations and will miss the return leg.

From the get-go inter looked offensively flat. Playing with two ball-winners and with a not so-established playmaker was wrong. Instead of playing with flanked forwards, Zac shows the he's touched in the head and drops VDM to the bench. Also, Cruz isn't even there although he wasn't back home with the injured players and we play with two CF in Vieri and Martins. I've seen tons of Marseille games and they aren't a very good club. If Zac watched a single-game of theirs he would've noticed how fragile their defence is but instead gives them a break by playing Vieri and Martins which fell well to their physically skilled defence.

Drogba looked very dangerous and couple of interventions from an in-form Canna cut the danger in some occassions. Camel Meriem should've given them the lead after Drogba chested down the ball for him but he blasted high. Inter in the mean time just pass the ball around and after they lose it they commit dangerous tackles. CZ could have been sent off after committing a series of lazy tackles but only escapes with a yellow card. Vieri and Martins were trying but they were isolated and in a rare chance they play a one-two and Vieri shoots a good ball that Barthez saves. Rest of the first half saw a total domination by Marseille.

30 seconds into the second half the inevitable happens. A regular cross by Ferreira is misjudged by both Cordoba and Drogba but the latter shows his instinct by keeping his balance and shooting the ball past a helpless Fontana. Drogba jumps into the stand as if he scored a championship winning goal and is rightly booked which means he'll miss the return game.

Inter remain clueless and an innocent through ball is unbelievably misjudged by Canna and Meriem gets the ball but is taked down by a last tackle by Fontana but still keeps the ball and hits the bar. It could've been a penalty but Fontana's effort pays off and inter escape unharmed. Emre came in for an invisible Kara and inter start to initiate efforts but the ball dies at the feet of a terrible Martins or is lost by Vieri. Neither should really be blamed for that since they were surrounded by the physical Marseille defence each time they get the ball.

The pressure is yet exerted and another harmful ball is misjudged by Adani but luckily Fontana interferes with his feet and the Drogba's touch goes unpunished. Luckily for us the game finishes and Marseille should be upset that they only scored once when they had more chances and they might rue that at the San siro.

My players' ratings:

Fontana: 7 -- Can't be blamed for the goal and saved us in couple of chances. Lack of communication with the defenders was apparent.

Canna: 6.5 -- Looked solid for most of the match, made a bad mistake that almost led to a goal.

Corodoba: 6 -- Average performance before being replaced, at fault for the goal.

Adani: 5.5 -- Unconvincing performance and couldn't contain Drogba, he really looked tired.

JZ: 6 -- Totally invisible but at least didn't commit a mistake.

CZ: 5.5 -- Won some balls but was on the verge of being sent off. No offensive contribution.

Almeyda: 6 -- Played better than CZ and was trying to help offensively.

Kily: 5.5 -- Was really upset and could've been sent of in the first 20 minutes after slapping a player. Bad performance but is better than Helveg.

Karagounis: 5.5 -- Wasn't supplied with balls and was overwhelmed by the Marseille midfield.

Martins: 5.5 -- His first touch is worse than Vieri's. Still can't dribble but he should be really played up front without having to withdraw alot.

Vieri: 6.5 -- Had our only shot of the game. Was trying hard but wasn't supplied with balls and lost them rather easily.

I think it was Cordoba that misdjudged that high ball going to Drogba who instead of going forward just stopped it and everything was clear to shoot on goal despite Afani coming towards him along with Fontana...But believe it or not we are lucky we got out of this 1--0.... :depress:

I actually saw the match, but I'm just so pissed right now that I don't even feel like thinking of Inter. At the moment they're not worth it.

Btw, Cannavaro + Inter shirt = CRAP!

This is still a winnable thing....dont get on Zac just yet.I agree he didnt handle the match well before it started because Vieri and Martins should have been rested from the begining. But hopefully he rearranges his works and we win in the second match at home.

This was the most miserable game that we played whole season. :yuck: :yuck: :yuck:

IMO our players looked very lazy and made very stupid fouls at the middle of the field. I just wonder why CZ didnt get a red card, he made so many uneccesary fouls.
Karagounis was really bad, I thought he was a pitbull fighter but he started to make simulations on the pitch whenever someone touches him he falls down and always complains to the ref.(Totti like) :D
Martins looked very bad too, what do you serve the speed if you dont have any skills, just wonder and IMO this was the lazyiest game Martins ever played.
When I saw Cannavaro at the start of the game he made 2 or 3 interventions in the back I thought this guy is geting back in his world class form but then in the 2nd half he made a couple of mistakes that even my grandmother wasnt capable of making so IMO he has to go in the summer.
Kily had just a single cross from the left wing and that just tells how we were defending the whole phucking 2nd half.

But we still can win it at the San Siro but we have to show much better performance then we did in France or Marsille is gonna blow us away. ;)

IMO the Inter we saw yesterday was 15% Inter.(if you know what I mean) :dielaugh: :)

Well tiredness was a big factor i dont know how Zac didnt realize that...
We lost this game when we played Vieri and Martins in the game against Juve...Yes they did well in that one and yes Vieri did somewhat well in the game against Marseille(well only chance we had was him) But u cant deny that they are tired...

You are most right!! I saw the game again and it was Cordoba, i'll edit my post. For some reason, Canna and Cordoba look alike in the white shirt for me.
