Fabregas is a shadow of what he was, Barkley has serious fitness and injury issues as has Danny Drinkwater since arriving, Bakayoko is helpless. So that really leaves Kante, Jorginho, Loftus Cheek and Kovacic leading the midfield pack this season.

Playing for Inter also hampered his growth. It is not like he played for us with any consistency or regularity. We acquired his services only for him to spend most of his time on the bench or as an ineffective contributor to the team.

Personally, I think he is overrated. He has been a professional footballer for eight years and to this day no one actually knows his best position.

What does that say about him as a footballer? Ineffective and unconvincing are two words that readily come to mind when I think of Kovacic.
