I got some thoughts today about this whole situation, particularly how the fans here react to this debacle, and I couldn't help to notice that I've already went through similar thing. I've already heard things like "there is nobody who can replace him", "we're loosing one of the best in his time over some off the field stuff", "no top team is selling their vital player for peanuts over some silliness", "we will suffer due to this", "the x team that will take him will rock the world and we will be crying over it", "people are overevaluating off the field stuff", "only at inter, it wouldn't be happening in other clubs". I got a bit of a deja vu.
balotelli. I remember how huge discussion we had, how we're loosing a talent on the messi scale for nothing out of our stupidity, and we'll regret it. How he should be our future, and we should just ignore his character and the signs that he is no good for the team overall. I remember it very well but I'm sure many fans don't, or rather would like to not remember, cause we all know where is balotelli today right? If the history tought us something, is that you can be a jerk or a primadonna on the field, but you have to be professional towards your team and teammates like Keane, like Ronaldo etc. balotelli was as clear as a day, a big baby, that will not grow up and will never fulfill his potential because he just shits over the word "profesionalism". Same goes for icardi. But, as always... it's easy to see things short-term, but not easy to see things long-term, and over time I guess nobody is mad at the deal we got seeing what he achieved and how many teams he had to switch after that.
icardi is done at inter, and there is only 1 person who is the cause of that and that is our no DS. Good, cause it's a about damn time.
If lukaku is done to inter, then it's terrible news for wanda nara family. They have a striker who is clearly brought to play first team, not to sit on the bench. They have a potential striker (Dzeko) who will be direct competitor. Not good. You have your boss who says, if you want to go to jube then fine, but not for peanuts and the time is ticking. Soon enough you're starting to think "maybe jube will change their mind, and then we're literaly screwed". I know icardi is a moron, but I think even for him a 1 year lay off on the bench would be disastorous in terms of his status. No top team (I think) would buy him as a star player to be their essential striker due to the long time where the player was not consistently playing. That also means, a lot less levarage on the new contract from the new team. You don't pay the player top dolar when he was not playing first team football for over a year.
icardi destroyed his carear with the help of his new wife. He will probably be lamenting over it in some 30 years or so and say to the camera "if I could turn back the time I would do it much differently", but we have to wait 30 years for that.
