I have deliberately stayed away from this thread for obvious reason. Coming back after winning the title I thought there would have been slight change of tone,
Nope I still see the same old posts from posters who clearly have icardi-goggles on

For all the goals icardi scored he failed to bring us any silver ware. I am not stating that Lukaku brought us silverware single handed , but we were able to function as a team with icardi gone.

The unified team brought us silverware

I love how this narrative ignores that we spent 250m on top of all that.

You keep repeating this mantra like broken record. First of all, Inter were two times in a row in CL which actually allowed to have more investments in the squad. The next thing is that we spent a lot of money before that as well. When Suning came, they spent nearly 100mln only for the likes of Gabishit, JM and Candreva. Let do not forget 9n, Kdog, Vecino, Dalbert, Skriniar, Bastoni, Jovetic, Eder, etc.
Your point is weak.

Net spend trumps whatever you're saying here.

The weak point is to suggest that replacing Icardi with Lukaku brought us here. It is a ridiculously biased assumption based on nothing other than unwarranted prejudice, ignoring all facts and context. It's something I'd expect to hear from first graders at primary school and even they'd shut up about it once presented with the actual situation.

How many times do you want it repeated?
Why do you even want me to repeat it?

It's already known and all the relevant information is public. What exactly do you want me to keep repeating?

250mil net? Really?

Checking transfermarkt, 19/20 was -£111m (net), and 20/21 was -£21m net. I dont know how that adds up to -£250m.

There have obviously been some critical additions - Barella being a key example, Eriksen another, but actually we've still got a few players from previous-core here - Handanovic, Skriniar, De Vrij, Perisic, Lautaro, Brozovic. If you want to add in Bastoni as a player available, but not utilised, that's 7 of 11 starting positions.

Hakimi has been inconsistent this season, though you cant take away from him that he has been fairly critical at times. Lukaku obviously great. Barella and Eriksen make the rest of the numbers.

I dont think Barella single handedly make the difference to our Serie A run, nor do I think anyone could contest that it was Hakimi or Eriksen (bear in mind Candreva's stats last year were pretty much as good as Hakimi, and was also a very inconsistent player like has been criticised of Hakimi this year).

I do think we're a far better TEAM than we were at any point under Icardi. Clearly additional quality has massively helped this TEAM, and a better coach, but I do also think getting rid of Icardi has massively improved us. It should be no surprise, IMHO, that he's been a bit of a disaster for PSG. He's only actually scored in 6 league matches all season, and not once in the CL (albeit with only 3 starts)

~50m net higher salaries than 2018-19 (+ a lot of millions on loaned out players that were ousted which puts last season higher than 2019 as well but let's not go there)
~150m net spend in 2019-20
~35m net spend in 2020-21

Transfermarkt has Pinamonti's return at 8m whereas it was actually 20m. 8m was just the downpayment and generally they do not follow up with the actual transfer valuations but use only the base. And they have him going to Genoa for 19.5m but iirc it was 18m.

Safe to say it's 250m net spend. If you don't like that, it's still 230m at least.

ah right you're including all the salaries again, lol (fair enough I suppose)

TBF, if you're going to do that, you need to offset also all the prize money. By getting to the EL final, we made an additional ~10m euros at least (unclear about sponsorships and broadcast). Prize money over the last 2 years compared to the year abefore should be 5.2mil + 9.2mil for the league alone, so call it 14.4mil, there's additional bonuses etc that should be triggered both last year and this year. Unclear what those are.

Winning the league means we get a bump as well in the CL next year, which is worth maybe an incremental 10-15mil?? on the pool distribution money?

Once you actually aggregate up the net, it really isnt that bad.

Either way, even with the incremental costs, I think all of us would prefer Lukaku than Icardi. Even if you dont dislike Icardi from a play style/whatever perspective, Lukaku fits our formation far better than Icardi would IMHO.

Where have I said that? It is more complex but the replacement of Icardi with Lukaku was one step of the process. Everyone has his fair share. Management for the implementation of some order in the team and that got rid of the rotten apple, as well as for the better handling of the transfers. Conte's share is that he united the team and installed them a non pussy mentality. And finally, the players themselves, for the hard work and winning the title.

That's one way of looking at it.

The other is to agree with people who say BS like this:

Complaints about money spent on Lukaku is academic now , why bring something up that happened 2 years ago
BTW......The gamble paid off,

we should be looking to strengthen our team even more so we can finally enjoy many more years of success.

Oh and Brehme expect more money to be spent , that's just the way shit works ...

It's the tactic of anti-superleague, don't spend a dime and hope nobody else does it.

Who complained?

The concept is that WE SPEND MORE MONEY AFTER ICARDI LEFT than before.

WE SPEND A LOT MORE MONEY AS A CL PARTICIPANT as well. You have to spend more to get similar quality when the whole team is considered average as fuck.

Who freaking complained? It's you lot who keep making STUPID comparisons on completely different situations and expect people to clap their hands in approval of your nonsense....

The only toxicity comes from the people who want to distort facts. That's something very alien to being Interista and very common with some other group. Stop spreading lies about situations that eveyone lived and anyone should be able to understand and maybe people will stop correcting it...

Knowing Candreva Crosses how is posting, for me that was more like irony and a bait for you to react than a serious statement. Although I have expected to see such a post in the Conte's thread but this one is also good. That's the reason I gave a thank there.

How did he play yesterday in PSG's crucial game? With Mbappe injured, PSG must be depending on Icardi :work:
