Inter set date for Icardi renewal?

Inter are reportedly confident of tying Mauro Icardi down to a new contract in the New Year.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter CEO Beppe Marotta will oversee a meeting between the club and Icardi during the winter break in January.

The newspaper explains Marotta will be tasked with negotiating a deal until 2023 for the Argentine but warns both parties have yet to agree on a salary.

It is said the Nerazzurri offered the 25-year-old improved terms of €6m a year plus bonuses, but agent-wife Wanda Nara requested €8m after tax in response.

La Gazzetta adds Inter are ‘annoyed’ by Wanda, in particular her recent tweet about how ‘it’s 12.30am and I’m still here reading through the details of this new contract.’

Nonetheless, the publication believes Icardi could agree to shelving his release clause – currently set at €110m.
