We should definitely go all in right fucking now. News of Chiellini being out for months, maybe even the whole season is massive boost to Napoli and Inter. We should bolster our midfield and maybe even attack. Now's the time to fucking press hard and increase the level of the squad in a big way. Juve is weak, they have also new coach, they number one defender is out and they will put EVERYTHING to win the CL.

Yes, and lets put ourselves right back into the cuffs of FFP :einstein:

We handle FFP next June with Ausilio magic. While we're in CL knockout matches, collecting at least one extra home game worth 5m€ etc. And going after Scudetto till the end.

Ausilio would assumingly have to be Houdini to pull off magic to remedy a big purchase after our current mercato, especially with all the loan returns…. that is unless that fuck stick Icardi leaves.

I would like Inter to buy a top quality midfielder and a cheap option for a 4th striker just in case. Apart from that, our squad is complete. Now its upto Conte and the players.

Also there are been a lot of negativity at FIF lately. At times like these, this is one of the videos that helps me. After so many years, still get goosebumps. Watch it, it will kill all the negativity.

Negativity? There’s a lot of positivity around lately, compared to previous eras like with Mazzarri (unfortunately) and Gasperini/Ranieri.

Especially after the Lecce game, people are brimming with positivity aura.

Fully expect De Ligt to take his spot whilst he out and he’ll not get it back, an opportunity to phase him towards reducing towards retirement.

And it sounds like you haven’t visited the rest of the forum .

That is exactly one thread out of thousands of threads in the forum, it certainly doesn’t represent the negativeness of the forum as a whole being a portion of it.

Yeah but De Ligt won't be a leader like Chiellini. On and off the pitch, Chiellini's presence is HUGE.

Now after sleeping one night with this information, I'm even more sure we should fucking go for it BIG TIME. Chiellini out for months, possibly even for the whole season or career, is a big hit for them. Now's the time to strike immediately when they are hurt.

I live with criticism everyday. From student papers to journal article reviewing. I fully understand your position. But this is sport and Fif is a place where many would want a bit of healthy spirit. Criticize Inter as much as you want but please, just dont write stuff to set up some sort of hierarchy: wise you and naive Others. To be a fan of Inter is suffering enough. Hope should always be welcome.

This mercato isn't perfect, but it's still pretty damn good.

Up until Lukaku I wasn't optimistic. Then we sell Barbosa out of the blue and loan Sanchez.. This was a turning point for me. The reason is we badly need more players like Sanchez, Sensi (from what I've seen against Lecce), Lautaro, Brozovic etc roaming around instead of Kondogbia's and Medel's. Having only one physical player like Lukaku upfront is good enough. Our biggest clear problem was not being able to create chances and break defenses. That Mancini shit approach had to be cleansed. It hasn't changed with Spalletti.

I would've preferred to add one more great midfielder, but as I said it's not a perfect mercato and we can't get everything in one summer. We still have the Icardi problem to resolve and hopefully by then we can have more funds for more costly transfers.

I'd give the mercato an 9/10 if we didn't waste 80m on Lukaku (and stop saying 65m with 5 year payments please) and got SMS instead.

It's just a 7/10 so far at best.

It might become an 8/10 if we end up with Milinkovic-Savic or Eriksen, but it'll stay a 7/10 if we only end up with Vidal or no one new.

Icardi's future will also affect the mercato from -2 to +1.

- Our signings in defence apart from Biraghi (including Godin & Lazaro) are not suited for our 3-5-2 and most of our existing defenders aren't suited for it either, turning our strong point into our potential new weak spot.

- Our midfield is not upgraded in terms of quality but at least there's more flavour now. Our midfield's ability has not changed but the good thing is that the team is more balanced now and our middle is not just a hole.

- Our attack hasn't improved by much despite heavy investments and the only reason it can be argued that it has improved is because we have Sanchez now which adds a new dimension. Prior to Sanchez coming, it'd be a downgrade here as well.

- Our bench has added more options in every line but maybe we need to wait a bit to see if we are making any other moves.

- No sales. Gabriel Barbosa was expected in a way, maybe not that high transfer fee but around 15m for sure, but the money is coming in January anyway.

If you have told me that in 2018 that Inter would commit 250m in a single mercato, show me the lineup and roster and then tell me that Sanchez, Barella, Sensi and Biraghi are actually loan deals, I'd be very displeased with the end result.

Yeah, I agree with Cafe here, also because I believe we still have some money left from those savings in recent years, which will btw not be the case in the next mercato (I believe it will be much slower than this year's). But, if we did this one little push towards SMS, that would be huge. Dybala for icardi would be the icing on the cake. I think at that point in time Conte would have a perfect team for 3-5-2 altering with 3-4-3 (Martinez/Sanchez/Dybala behind Lukaku). Politano might very well go in this case.

But it's not up to us, it's up to Lazio as well, and they are not some low level club that will allow their key player leave 5 minutes before mercato ends. Shame a bit.

Gabigol sold already or rumor? Please don't get me excited....

Squad Depth
We got younger and more dynamic in the midfield, a mammoth for a striker who in theory is a great fit despite the price, coverage on the wings with lazaro and biraghi and an absolute legend CB in godin. Stole Sanchez on a loan at half the salary. All of these additions fit the criteria of the coach who has a long term plan. Fuck cares how we got them, because we did.

Surely we will sign a midfielder yet. Won't we? How can we not? We fucking have to.

I don't care if it's SMS, or Vidal, or Eriksen, or Rakitic. All of those names would easily walk in to our starting XI. I would accept someone even a little worse, just be better than Vecino and Gags. We need someone to add depth.

If explaining how the Icardi thread is a subset of all threads on the forum is equivalent to telling how other people how naive they are, then yeah, I am totally setting up a hierarchy..

I really shouldn’t have needed to explain such stuff in the first place. So perhaps it warrants it.

Unless of course you are referring to my first line, well then that is a direct reply to the previous post.

Now, do we also wanna examine each letter?

Napoli is the Arsenal of Serie A. They have failed to deliver whenever it mattered for them in those past few years. Not sure which season it was (think it was 2013 or 2014) while they couldn't exploit the advantage of being far ahead of Juve in the first phase of season.

Meanwhile we have been shite for several years, same goes for Milan too. Though someone had to be in the second or third place in this league. Without Inter and Milan competing for trophies, Italian football will always be dead.
