Last season only, when both of them underwent knee surgeries and needed a long time to recover. Unlike Sensi, neither Vidal nor Vecino was injury-prone before (Vecino was even a constant starter in Spalletti era); so I could safely assume that they have many minutes available next season.You don't need your backups to always perform at their best but you need them to be available. Instead our backups miss lots of our games due to injuries. When Gagliardini is the only backup who's available on a consistent basis, it's a problem.
You can't cross them out like they don't exist. We are paying them a lot of money -> use their stamina, let them work. You are wasting resources if you don't use your employees.
The point is, wingback is the most demanding position on the field, while our depth there is terrible. I don't want to burn Nandez to death covering for others' jobs. He needs some rest too; otherwise, it increases the chance of injury or he will perform like shit due to exhaustion.
