Second is a must because of the automatic entry in CL. With Uefa's new rules we can be paired against City, Arsenal, Bayern, Valencia or Portugal's top flight teams in qualification if we finish third. Nobody can say these teams will be a walk in the park and not qualifying could be a disaster for the club financially.

So for this reason alone finishing second is a absolute priority.

Well this year i think Italy has lost their third spot to Germany, so next year only first 2 places go straight.

No. Italy still have 4 teams to go for 2011/2012. However, who finish 4th place in Serie A 2011/2012 will not qualify to Champions League 2012/2013. That was because we saved Italy ass by winning champions league.

We are now already qualified to CL 2011/2012 Group Stage. So, we just need to secure 2nd place if we want to and all we need is just a simple draw with Napoli. Because, Napoli is 4 points below. Napoli need win both games against us and Jube to steal our 2nd place. And, they are without Cavani for both games. I think our second place is pretty much save knowing that our last game is at Meazza and vs Catania. With Leo, we have always won our home league game.

Well it seems the rule was implanted at the end of 08/09 season with the new champions and non champions path that is favorable towards clubs that are from weaker leagues but are crowned champions. At the start of 08/09 the old rules were still used.

MILAN - Andrea De Marco from the refereeing section of Chiavari has been appointed to oversee proceedings in the Napoli v Inter fixture (Week 37, Serie A 2010/11), which is scheduled for a 20:45 kick-off on Sunday 15 May at the Stadio San Paolo in Naples.

De Marco will be taking charge of a game involving Inter for the first time this season. He will be assisted by Viazzi and Liberti, with Cervellera as fourth man - none of whom have ever officiated in an Inter fixture before.
