Not sure how many of you are hockey fans, but I figured since the trade deadline (transfer window) has just closed, this is where hockey gets interesting with the playoffs coming in about 6 weeks.

Who's your team? Obviously from my avatar, I'm a San Jose Sharks fan.

The really inaccurate parts of this map would be the Florida Panthers part as well as the Blackhawks, I'm pretty sure there are Chicago Blackhawks fans in Wisconsin.

What's your thoughts on Niemi's extension?

Good for him, he struggled throughout much of the season but is finally beginning to make a difference. Still not the same as Nabokov but I have faith in him, he'll figure out how to get back to the way he was when he was with the Blackhawks. Wonder if Niittymaki will stay on as well?

I'm not liking the money from our perspective. Obviously a great deal for Niemi himself in getting a raise. Niittymaki will probably be traded or something. Once he returns from being healthy, we'll be right against the cap and will have to buyout some kind of contract. I would have been ok with a 1 or two year extension for a little more (like 3 million a year) but this is a little too much for me.

I'll probably make a Sharks video update tomorrow (computer died and I'm in the school library typing this on a borrowed laptop).

That was pretty disgusting when I saw that opening round. Speaking of Phoenix though... they're playing pretty well again. I didn't think they'd be in contention this late.

Well they're well coached, and Yandle is playing like a Heart Trophy Candidate (he won't win it, but that's how well he's playing). Though Phoenix is in 4th in the west, they've lost 4 straight, and are really 1 game away from going from 4th to 9th. It's amazing how tight the West is this year. Isn't it like 7 teams separated by 5 points?

Tell me about it... I was in downtown San Jose when the Sharks won the playoff series against the Wings and I swear the crowd in the bar watching the game was practically 50/50.

Detroit just doesn't care about regular season games... almost as bad as how much the sharks DO care about the regular season. What the hell? This winning is actually scaring me more than ever now.

Really as long as we win the division I'm happy. Get a decent seed, play a team you know you can beat first round, and go from there.

I think the blackhawks are fine with crawford. Seems like he's doing well for them out in Chicago. If the Sharks somehow land the #1 seed, I'm going to panic. This winning is getting too ridiculous and it feels like 2008 will come all over again.
