  • Rivas, which defensive roles did you cover at River Plate?
"I played at right- and left-back and I can also play in the middle."
Very interesting. I thought someone as physical as him would normally be used on in the middle instead at the flanks. I wonder how good he is offensively, since our 4-3-1-2 requires wing-backs with very good offensive skill.

To tell you the truth, I'm skeptical about this transfer; it reminds me of Jeremie Brechet. I haven't heard much about him and it's not just because he played in a South American league. We heard a lot rave reviews about Samuel and Burdisso even when they were playing in Boca. But, let's just keep our fingers crossed.

As for the non-EU spot, let's not cry a river eh? We do not desperately need a player and whoever we bought will be used as a substitute anyway.

To me it seems some guys here are sceptical of any transfer of a player who isn't a household name. Right now, I mean, who cares? Right now we actually can afford to make a small gamble. We still have Matrix, Samuel, Cordoba and Nico to play CB, Maicon, Zanetti to play RB and Max and probably Chivu as well to play LB.

We have numerous of options so a small gamble now isn't the end of the world.

What I don't get is... why should be there a whole scouting process on this guy and pay 2,5 million or whatever to never let him play :S ?

That doesn't make sence, we have fine scouts and this guy has to have some kind of talent in one way or another, I welcome him and wish him the best luck!

Benvenuto e molto fortuna Nelson Rivas.

wonder if he can turn out to be Maxwell's backup

Well Maicon is a pretty big guy and he plays as right back so since I hear that Rivas is pretty fast and strong we can use him on the flank.

How much was the transfer fee for Rivas?

Tuttomercatoweb says 1.25M euro... can someone confirm that?

LOL, I just saw that YouTube clip and he doesn't strike me as having what it takes to be a fullback.

However, he reminds me of another colombian, Aspirillia. He had the build of a bull, but was agile and quick for his size, I hope Vivas will be the same.

there is rumours that he will stay(and not be loaned out) only because we could bring Pato in January thank's to that(we couldn't get him now cos he is under 18 or something, there are some strange regulations). So after sitting for 6 months on the stands Rivas will be kicked out and thanks to that we will get Pato, since one non-ue player must go out if we want to bring the new non-ue player.

Where did you read this? This doesn't sound too bad.

And at FM you can't purchase u-18 players from Brazil. That's my source :p

hi Im Colombian and think everyone is in shock, like people have said Colombia has like at least 5 better CBs in our league then this guy.

Any way Rivas isnt like Cordoba at all he is more like Matrix which isnt a good thing if u look at the utube video of him. Not saying he is bad he just not too smart and sometimes does stupid stuff. So he is like a dumb matrix other than a dirty player like matrix. Tho he is faster, stronger, and good on one on ones tho I dont think he can score like MAtrix

Also he didnt really play for River, he did but he was there on loan and they had a rotation system he prob played about 10 games for them in 6 months, mostly he played at LB I believe, and some at CB. I hope he does well but comparing him to a 1999 Cordoba is a joke and if u think that u will be very disappointed

also dont think he is Inter quality at the moment, maybe a mid table team like Udinese, tho he isnt better than Cristian Zapata either tho Zapata was his back up when he was in Deportivo Cali

so basically Rivas = Black Matrix ( just as dirty, and liabilty but faster)

hopefully u guys can fix his little card issiue or at least have his Hero make him a better actor when he hits people.... really made me laugh tho when Matrix said he really liked him and Rivas says Matrix is his hero....

everyone would see matrix as a hero ;)

there has been some dispute about his position with people trying to insist he is a clear fullback who can occupy the middle but ive come to understand his strictly a centreback who can occasionaly go out wide.

I think its normal to be a big shock when it was announced, at that stage chivu seemed impossible and we needed a cheap defender. but i can bet my left arm you could of got someone in italy for the same price and at least be italian, wouldnt have any issues wiht passports or a EU spot. so it makes you wonder, even more so that it seems he isnt just a filler but has also been 'looked at' for a while (which has been admitted by inter)

Aparecido Cesar e Nelso Rivas Lopez potrebbero lasciare i nerazzurri. L’ex laziale piace all’Udinese mentre il colombiano potrebbe essere girato in prestito all’Atalanta.

So it's rumoured Rivas could go to Atalanta. I hope we can find quickly a club for him. So that he can adapt to the new team and coach. It's important he can get minutes in Serie A.
