What teams qualified?

SA - 1.5 spot + Brazil as host
1. Argentina - qualified champion of the U20 Qualifiers
2. Brazil - host
3. Colombia - 2nd place in qualifiers need to beat 3rd place Concacaf team to Qualify in October

Who else is qualified. South America has both Qualifiers and Copa America 100th edition in the US. Wonder who they will send to this and what order teams will place this in importance.

The Colombian first team looks strong for the Copa this year; is the Under 20 team any good? Who looks the most promising?

The European U21 championship will be played in June which seems to be where we will find the next countries the soonest. The Netherlands, France and Spain all didn't qualify for the championship and can't therefore qualify for the Olympics. 8 teams are remaining and I hope it will be England, Italy, Germany and (of course) Denmark.

Our youth coach sucks. A lot of people wanted the team to not qualify so we could fire him. All in all every South American U20 looked awful in qualifiers.

Colombia bright spot
-Quintero -Cb captain plays for Dep Cali in Colombia
Montero -GK plays in Brazil(best goalie along with Argentinas)
- Tello -RB 18 just got loaned to Juventus. Very promising sadly our coach played him as a DM all tournie
- Zapata -MF - Udinese very promising was awesome but our coach didn't play him till the end of the cup
- Barrera - AMF - Pibe Valderamas nephew. Very very good didn't play till the 2nd round because the coach is a dumbass. He Plays at Junior in Colombia

The strikers didn't look that bad they just had laughable finishing. Jackson Martinez at this level had shit finishing so there is hope for a couple of them.

All in all the team is very green and no real star like the 2013 team when we had Quintero or the 2011 team that was godlike with James, Murillo (our next starting CB), Franco(beastily Cb), Arias, Muriel, Duvan zapata(Napoli).

We have a kid in Real Madrids youth team and another in Porto youth team (he knocked Real Madrid out last week)that are suppose to be awesome so hopefully they come
To the World Cup.

Also a Colombian Croatian kid that Man U wants that we are trying to get to pick us over them. Seems like a huge James/Falcao fan so looks like we have a good shot haha.

Colombia were by far the most entertaining team at the World Cup. I hope they keep it going at the Copa. It would be good to See Colombia build from the current team, and not just be a generational one off.

Current team or at least our 2014 WC team was the 2005 U20 that won
The South American Cup. Finished 1st and had a ton of great talent almost every player in that team has been capped to our Senior Nt.

Issues with Colombia/Colombians we don't get the BS hey I am italian or spanish because of my great great grand ma like Argies, Brazilians and Urguayans do. For a colombian to go to Europe he got to have insane potential

Also have a real hard time adapting to new countries outside of Italy, France and Portugal. We don't adapt well to Spain for some reason.... Let's not even talk about England or Germany. We also had a bad rep for indiscipline thanks Asprilla!!! Which is largely squashed. None of our current Nt players are shit heads like that.

Good news for us is our 2011 team that James lead is potentially Argubably better the our 2005 team. Many of these guys are doing well in Europe and already being called to our Senior team.

Issue with 1998 -2010 was coaching. Our coaches suck. Our 2014 team was the same as our 2010 minus James. I would have probably preferred the 2010s team chances because we had a much stronger defense that time around. Young Yepes = Beast.

What are the likely Euro teams to qualify?

Also why don't euros rate the none SNT teams highly. Only Germany, Spain , France or Holland try. Always shocked when I see how bad some of the traditional soccer powers youth NTs are.

Can't speak for European teams, but the British have a poor attitude to their youth set ups. The South Americans really work hard on their youth compared to the British. But then again I think our whole game is backward, hence the poor performances in big tournaments.

South America put a bigger importance on youth because they are easier to sell abroad. Euro teams rather buy a almost finished product then develop one. I think most of the colombian NT has been Abroad by the time they hit 21-22. Very unlikely to get bought after 24 for South Americans. Think euro want wonder kids

Also in Latin America difference between a 16 year old and 27 year old body type doesn't seem different. Players taller then 5'8 and under 150lbs seems like the average.Around same height and weight. Europe seems becauae the players are better physically makes chances for younger players to be more limited. As well as money. South American teams don't have money to buy players and have to use youth teams. Deportivo Cali the team basically all the colombian euro players come from basically has to use 1/3 - 1/2 a youth team and then hope each season 1-2 of those kids are good and can be sold abroad. Sucks for them but they invest a ton of money in their youth teams

Wow... So our roster sucks teams just told our coach to go eat a bag of dicks. He will use this as his excuse when he does badly

Took 5 strikers and only 4 MFs. Our best U23 players are all strikers but he decides to bring 2 over 23 ones any way that aren't even that good. The team really needed a goalie and didn't bring a over 23 one or even one that plays. Both are 3rd choice keepers for their clubs at best.

Heard Portugal has had it rough too and only called 17 guys

really, it's ridiculous. i mean, i understand they want to give 1 place to Oceania, too, and i understand that now Australia plays in the Asian qualification round, but still... they are going to lose every match a shitload of goals to nil.

Colombia V Argentina - Friendly before the Olympics. for anyone interested

Game was boring as FK... almost passed out and that Calleri guy missed the pk in the last 5 minutes of the game. Those of you who think he can replace Icardi should have your IQs checked. Dude seems like another super hyped and over rated Argie player to me

the olympic games in the ancient world were suppressed because of too many athletes cheating, i guess sooner or later the same will happen to modern olympic games.

The US, Russia and China win 90% of the medels. Something fishy going on there

Then Jaimica wins everything dealing with running haha

It is fascinating that athletes with African ancestry are much better runners no to forget the difference between those with West-African ancestries and the East-African runners. This is a great article about it:

Those who do not understand the power of genes might argue that the medal podium for runners should reflect a rainbow of diversity, as no country or region should have a lock on desire or opportunity. But just the opposite has happened in track and field: running has become almost segregated by ancestry.

The trends are eye opening: Among men, athletes of African ancestry hold every major running record, from the 100m to the marathon. Of the past seven Olympics men’s 100m races, all 56 finalists have been of West African descent. Only two non-African runners, France’s Christophe Lemaire, who is white, and Australia’s Irish-aboriginal Patrick Johnson, crack the top 500 100-meter times. There are no elite sprinters who are Asian—or, intriguingly, East African.

The story of distance running is equally remarkable. Runners of West African ancestry don’t tend to do well at endurance races, which are dominated by North and East Africans—note the medal haul in London by Kenyans and Ethiopians. And oddly, East and North Africans are terrible at sprinting.
