Paulo Dybala

Imagine you`re in Ausilio/Marotta`s shoes, would you offer Dybala a contract?

  • Yes - unlock defences and add value: creativity, individual brilliance, attacking outside the box

  • No - serious doubts about his fitness and contribution when it matters the most

Getting Dybala isn’t about his quality only but about weakening Juve. That’s why signing him is a priority. Sms is an overhyped player. By the way even in his best seasons De vri scored almost the same number of goals.

Not really. De Vrij's highest number of goals is 6, while for SMS it is 12. Either way, that's more of a compliment to De Vrij, because 12 goals from a midfielder is quite good.

You're right.

Having scored the same number of league goals last season, the fairer comparison would be Gagliardini.

Yet another casualty to statistical sampling bias.

Remember when Dybala destroyed Barca a few years ago? I member. That's the Dybala I'd hope we'd be getting. If he can get back some form we'd have a monster attack.

Juve prefers to sell him to PSG obviously. Also if we manage to sell Icardi to Roma for example, they have to keep Higuain. Fuckers.

Just thinking how different our situation would be if we had signed him instead of Juventus back then.... Now it won't feel the same and I doubt it'll have the same effect. But this guy is more than welcome at Inter.

If we signed Dybala 'back then' he'd now be banging in 25 goals and 20 assists for Liverpool at a discounted transfer price.

No, we wouldn't.

We sold Coutinho for cheap because: 1) he wasn't really good here, 2) we needed to make an outgoing transaction, 3) the coach did not want to use him.

People seem to support this kind of transfers now, so I guess in retrospect they can find the Coutinho transfer a decent one... The same thing happened with Kondogbia, in reverse. He wanted to leave so we let him go, despite the coach wanting him to stay.

But Dybala would not have been sold. Just like Handanovic was never sold (there was interest from Barcelona, Liverpool, other PL teams and more recently from Napoli throughout his Inter career), just like we never considered to sell Icardi until last season and just like we have declined offers for Skriniar and Perisic in the past seasons.
If anything, it would have given us stability.

The only possible destination would have been Real Madrid and we'd be getting 60+ for sure in that case, especially since we'd be in the Champions League probably. And that would enable us to reach where we were in 2018-19 at least 2 seasons earlier. Pretty confident he'd ditch us if Real Madrid came calling and we weren't anywhere near winning the Scudetto.

Would've, probably... C'mon. In this time, Inter had shit managers playing shit football with average players. There was no hope he'd have blossomed here.

First of all, we're talking about 2015, not 2013. So we were at least trying to recover with Roberto Mancini at the helm. We weren't half as bad, we just had some glaring weaknesses. Our 2015-16 roster was thin, it was not bad overall. Our midfield was bad and our full backs, but the team overall wasn't that bad. We ended up 4th by the way. We wouldn't have improved to 3rd spot with Dybala alone imo, but we'd be far closer to 2nd and 3rd than 5th and people would start thinking that Inter is finally waking up. Suning would have arrived at the end of the season and they wouldn't start by selling any important players. Just like they haven't sold any important players since they've come. We're sort of gifting them and loaning them away now, but this season so far has been weird.

So no, if Dybala was here, the only way he'd leave was for a big transfer deal to Real Madrid. Otherwise he'd still be around unless he had a falling out with some manager.

I am pretty sure we can just substitute Dybala or any talent’s name in there and it would become true.

Mancini in particular would play Eder over him.

Eder came in January 2016. I doubt Mancini would be asking for a forward in case he had Dybala-Icardi + Jovetic there and it was going well.

I agree that he'd show preference to Eder in case he had him, but this is a scenario where Eder doesn't even come to Inter and we probably focus instead on getting a midfielder to patch things up.

I disagree. The emergence of Esposito as a 4th striker makes SMS or a quality midfielder over Dybala a priority. As Alex above said, if we add SMS to our midfield ranks, we are going to be tough to beat.
The emergence of Esposito? Are we really calling a could of good performances his emergence? We ve seen other youth player have bigger impacts in serie a and after a short good period they pretty much went to shit.

Again dont get me wrong esposito seems talented and the sky s the limit but i d be highly surprised if he had any significant impact this season wether we get dybala or not.

Looks like not gonna happen.

If PSG go after dybala i am not worried about missing on dybala , i am worried on what Juve can do with those money.
They would regain position of power in the Icardi-SMS discussion , smth we took once we signed Lukaku.

This is one of the best mercato games i've seen in years tbh

Esposito will have little to no impact on our season this year, despite his obvious talent. The next two years for Esposito is about exposure and development, not about delivering. He is just 17, lets give him time. So I do agree with you on this.

However, I also agree with Satubito. Maybe he didn't phrase it right. I too would rather Inter spend the "Icardi money" on SMS than swap with Dybala coz:

1. Conte does not rotate much. Lukaku, Martinez and Dzeko should be enough for rotation, and Esposito can be the 4th striker and get some minutes to develop. Getting Dybala would make Martinez that 4th striker, and that would be a complete waste of his talent.

2. We desperately need a top midfielder. Don't get carried away by some decent performances by Sensi and Barella in the pre-season. These kids are not ready to shoulder all the midfield responsibility already, and Vecino as first back up worries me a bit.

3. If we look at the Icardi transaction separately (rather than a swap) and lets say we get about 100m for Icardi + Politano/Gags, would you rather spend that money on Dybala or SMS? I would prefer SMS. A midfield beast like that would improve our first team more, and also give some breathing space for Barella/Sensi to settle in / develop.

SMS has the height and would complement Sensi and Barella, With Godin, Lukaku, De Vri and SMS, we will have 4 of the tallest players in serie a, which will grant Inter aerial superiority.
