Hello Interfriends,
Inter keep pace with Parma and win on this rare Easter Sunday match against
Perugia. The final score was 3-2 in a game that saw Inter lead, then fall
behind and then come back for the win only minutes from the end to gain 3
points thanks to 2 goals by Adriano and the winner at the 46th minute by
Martins.
Zac changed the lineup this week and played a 3-4-2-1 with Van Der Meyde
making a rare start along with Karagounis behind lone striker Adriano.
Perugia respond with a 4-4-1-1 formation with Ze maria and Di Francesco
causing many problems for Inter today.
Di Francesco was the main threat as he put Gammara who was too slow to keep
up under constant pressure and it allowed Perugia to play with pace and run
at the Inter defence. It worked well in the early portion of this match as
Perugia deserved to score during this spell but luckily for Inter they hit 2
posts one at the 19th minute another at the 21st with Toldo beaten.
Zac decides that Adriano is to isolated and moves Van Der Meyde along side
him with karagounis as playmaker. The move works and at the 24th Adriano
scores a wonderful goal. He gets the ball at the edge of the box, he
dribbles past 2 defenders and scores a mini-chip over the goalie to make it
1-0 for Inter. Perugia keep on coming though and come close to equalizing
moments after but Toldo who returned from injury makes a great instinct save
with his foot from a close range effort by Obodo.
Inter did not look great on the ball and as been custom all season have
looked very shaky in defence. Perugia continue to come at them in the
second half and at the 5th minute they are rewarded as Di Francesco is left
all alone in the box and puts in a close range header past Toldo to make it
1-1. Perugia gets the go-ahead goal 10 minutes later as Toldo misses a
cross, Gamarra tries to clear but gets only as far as the 18 yard box.
Fabiano shoots back in and Hubner jumps into to redirect the ball into goal
to make it 2-1 for Perugia.
With 4th place still to play for Inter must play for the win and Zac takes
out Van Der Meyde and brings on Martins to help out the isolated Adriano up
front. Adriano comes up to save Inter at the 41st minute as he takes the
ball into the box, shields it well from the defender and lets loose a great
left footer low and hard into the corner to bring Inter level and rescue a
point.
Martins then gets the winner as he runs onto a through ball at the 44th
minute. Adriano is offside but does not touch the ball, instead he leaves
it for Martins to gather and the youngster finds himself one on one with
keeper and scores the winner to make it 3-2.
After 6 minutes of added time its Inter that comes away with the 3 points
but once again showed mental lapses at the back that could of cost the team.
At this point in the season though only the points matter so lets hope we
can keep the streak going in both league and cup.
