Yea well, doesn't matter if there's any golden handshake or whachamacallit. Point is, at least he got the fuck out, unlike Mancio.

I've never understood the hate Benitez got during his spell for Inter...

Mourinho left rafa with an aging injury plagued side who had already won "everything". The treble season put a lasting dent in a number of our past stars. He also wasn't really able to make the team his own while dealing with massive ego's.

Well, Benitez isn't currently setting the world on fire either, managing a relegated team...

Doesn't necessary have to do with the spell he'd at Inter.....

Just saying that he's unfairly scapegoated from that time.....

How about his massive ego in forcing the players to forget Mourinho and the fact they are treble winners?

Leonardo with pretty much the same aging squad did much much better in 6 months. Consider Leo had virtually no coaching experience and that's is a very very big slap to the "great" rafa.

He has pretty much failed all the other clubs he has gone to since Inter as well...

To be fair, Leonardo did get the reinforcements Benítez asked for. Also to be fair, Benítez did win the EL with Chelsea in his short stint there after he left Inter.

But the hate is justified. Even if the squad was aging/getting complacent, it still was the squad that won the Treble a few months earlier, and Benítez left the team playing subpar football while sitting at 6th or 7th in the table. I still remember an interview from Maicon in which he said Benítez was trying too hard to impose his tactical views and players weren't adapting to them. My guess is that Rafa wanted to build Inter as his own team and went too far while imposing his views.

I don't think it really mattered who was Mourinho's successor, it was bound to go downhill after the Treble season, the senior players (most of our starting 11) giving their utmost effort and after having the best season of their lives, nothing was left in the tank and/or complacency was an issue regardless.

If anything, as with everything Inter, the blame resides mostly with the management.

Benitez was dealt a bad hand but he didn't deal with it particularly well. Asking Benitez to manage a dressing room that worshiped Mourinho, when Benitez was seen as Mourinho's inferior rival and with no new faces brought in, was probably not a good idea. But Benitez didn't help himself by alienating the players and throwing ultimatums at the management.

So 2-4 months after winning treble they all lost their talent? or aged quickly?

Benitez has issues, he had issues with owners at every single club he managed and he is a control freak. The way Inter played just few months after winning CL shows how poorly he handled the squad.

UEFA Europa League: 2012–13
Napoli
Coppa Italia: 2013–14
Supercoppa Italiana: 2014

He haven't been a world beater, but I've seen worse *cough Moyes cough Van Gaal cough Wenger*

He is a control freak, a fucking moron, but he holds a certain level most of the time. If only he was brought instead of Mancini, we might've been playing in CL this year.

Winning europe league was really massive seeing as chelsea chose not to retain him....
And as for Rafa's napoli spell he managed to lose to the great athletic bilboa in the cl playoff's....

As for mancini vs the fat man they are pretty equal, both have 12 trophies....

Fans seem to be some amorphous entity for these guys that somehow exist and drive everything, like air, and it feels they're always going to be there, it's not something rare for them, so they don't appreciate it as much.

Well Rafa called Everton for a small mentality club for many years ago and it seems like the Everton supporters are still butthurt about this comment.

Everton is, compared to Liverpool, a fucking small club, so deal with it. Your anger confirms his comment in the past.

You have got a great coach and what was the alternative? Fucking Frank de Boer!? So shut up and be thankful your little dicks.
