he will become stankovic but cassano will be great?
hmmm...
didn't know you were nostrodamus...

10mil for vdv is still, imo, better than any deal currently on the market...

Cassano has the spark we need. VDV with Cassano will be worth the 10mil, but VDV alone will not cut it. We need someone to take hold of the game, Cassano has that quality, I'm not sure about Sneijder or VDV.

Well, i would be happy with Sneijder+Cassano or Sneijder+VDV.

We all would, but I dont see it happening especially considering how miserly we are these days... :`(

Walter Samuel,
VDV is a good player, but he isnt what we need. He will become another Stankovic at Inter.

His passing and vision is far superior to Stankovic.

Way better Muro, no doubt about it and Deki is quite good if he has time on the ball.

But he is not the midfield leader, its just my opinion.

was pretty poor, didn't anything worth noting, didn't have many touches on the ball either, at this point I would rather play Kuyt as trequartista, he was heavily involved in everything Holland did, even his passing was better :rollani: VDV's set piece delievery was very good, something we could use with our tall and powerful players.

Walter Samuel,
So you're going to choose who we buy based on 45 mins of football?

Needless to say, he was not "poor". He was fairly average, made a couple of good passes to Robben and got in a good position to be through on goal, but VP overhit what was a simple pass. Of course he got the goal aswell, though it was an easy tap in.

Sneijder has not been any better.

I've watched VDV a good long while. Hasn't progressed as he ought to have had. I can count the number of times touched the ball on one hand. England were in control of the match by the time Sneijder came on. His distribution was certainly better and he was more involved than VDV. VDV was too slow and weak in the challenge. Atleast he made the effort to track back. But his off the ball movement was poor. Nor did he intiate any attacking moves.

I think he's progressed fine. Just had a poor season at RM.

The fact that the attacking players didn't touch the ball much only shows the Netherlands were interested in playing counter attacking football, which was a good idea since England did nothing with the possesion.

Sneijder's passing was tidy, though he delayed his through balls too much which meant the attacking players were caught offside. Wasted a freekick in a good position too plus had a long shot well wide. Like i said, i think both were quite average tonight.

Sneijder has been (any) better.

Basing on todays performance, I would pay 3x more for Sneijder. I know somebody here only looks at "nice passes and stuff", but there are other things in football, besides goals and such :)

Sneijder is the better version of Stankovic(good at deffensive stage, and a lot better in offensive), Van Der Vaart is not.

I know some on here only look at "defence and stuff", something which we have plenty of in our current squad.

Needless to say, choosing who you would buy based on 45 mins of football in a friendly is rather stupid.

The way you talk, you'd think Sneijder won the game for Holland single handedly, while VDV scored an own goal.

I don't want another version of Stankovic. I want something different.

Walter Samuel,
Van der Vaart: 7.5 - Hugely influential and found plenty of space and time. Grabbed the second goal after Green had saved from Robben and set up Kuyt twice before being subbed at the break.

Sneijder: 6.5 - Not afraid to shoot and had several opportunities but couldn’t beat Green.

Hopefully we sign VDV...Senijder just said that he has no intrest in leaving Real and joining Inter so that puts an end to him....VDV is the only real valid option...along with Cassano.

sorry, but even from that game alone, i will not pay anywhere near 3x more for sneijder....
furthermore, i won't even pay more money for sneijder over vdv

though being a friendly and the players were certainly playing at a lower tempo, their qualities were right there to see....

were we watching the same game???

vdv showed why i like him better anyways

he plays between the lines....something none of our midfielders do...
offensively, his positioning on the field is far superior to that of sneijder....
he somehow always seems to find himself in little gaps in the field, causing the opponents defensive set to break down..
at lastly, HE CREATED CHANCES....

sneijder was deep, active, playing passes around and shooting from 35 yards out...
vdv played in the offensive third, played the ball quicker and was in more dangerous situations, not to mention, he scored..

regardless of what either of us think/say is better for the team, the real point is either vdv, sneijder, deco will be an asset to our team, period...

the probability of failure for all are about the same as well....

interesting assessment by this Fifpro lawyer...

http://www.tuttosport.com/calcio/ca...+der+Vaart+può+lasciare+gratis+il+Real+Madrid

http://www.corrieredellosport.it/Notizie/Calcio/77560/«Van+der+Vaart+via+dal+Real+a+parametro+zero»

since Real Madrid played Granero in a friendly with vdv's # and Granero's name on it, it is somehow a violation of the contract and thus vdv could go for free....

could be nonsense, but if this is true, Inter will be TRULY STUPID to not get this guy on free.....even if they still want sneijder, vdv on free is an absurd deal to not take..

let's see what happens for the rest of the week
