I don't think price is the main issue if we don't end up signing him (I'm still hopeful). Knowing the player's intention and based on what his father has been saying, they will push for a move and it should be possible to strike a reasonable deal with Barcelona. It seems that we don't even bother.

If he comes it will be late in the window, which Im okay with since he's basically already gelled with the team. He's just not a priority.

Rafinha: "Inter was a spectacular experience, I spent five very good months, I felt very good and I really thought that with the qualification in the Champions League I would have stayed, but it did not happen. Sometimes in football things don't happen like how the people want "

end of the torture right here?

but then you get this

Pedullà reassures the Inter fans: "Rafinha always warm track. The scenery…"
The last of the journalist on the Brazilian player

by Sabine Bertagna, @SBertagna DÌ LA TUA 0

Alfredo Pedullà, a journalist at Sportitalia, gave some updates on the possibility that Rafinha could return to Inter. Updates that confirm the rumors of Fcinter1908 a few days ago: "None of the Inter has ever contacted his entourage to say that the player must look for another team. Rafinha is a track to be taken into consideration. We had already said that Nainggolan basically would not have ruled out Rafinha. The scenario could change only in the face of two events. If an interested team were presented and if that team presented themselves, they would also convince the player. At the moment the rumors are not such as to convince the boy to make another choice. For Bernard, I understand that West Ham is far ahead. Malcom? There was an opening on terms of payment by Bordeaux. "

Makes sense, by then he will be the player other players can look up to.

Rafinha ending up here is still a possibility unlike Cancelo
Because Rafi in the full interview said... We will see what happens but he has to report to Barca pre season camp
Pedulla said that Nainggolan doesn't excludes Rafinha as he has no real offers now and we might still pounce for him in July

I trust Pedulla a lot...

Rafinha: ‘Thought I’d stay at Inter’
By Football Italia staff

Rafinha admits “I was really convinced that with qualification for the Champions League I’d have stayed” at Inter.

The midfielder joined the Nerazzurri on loan from Barcelona in January, with a buyout clause of €35m inserted in the deal.

However, while the club is keen to make the move permanent, they can’t afford that fee before the clause expires.

“Inter was a spectacular experience,” Rafinha told Lancenet.

“It was a style of football and a language I didn’t know. It was important for me to get back to playing as many games as possible after my injury. I knew my ability to adapt quickly would be important.

“Thanks to my teammates and the Nerazzurri fans, I was very well received and I regained my confidence in playing my style of football.

“I had a great time at Inter and I was thinking of staying. I was really convinced that with qualification for the Champions League I’d have stayed, but it didn’t happen.

“Football is still a business and sometimes people’s wishes aren’t fulfilled. Right now I’m a Barcelona player.

“I still haven’t met with the club, but in my head I have the idea of presenting myself for pre-season training on July 11 and then we’ll see.

“I’m ready for anything.”

I agree. The only way Rafinha will return to Inter is if he's still at Barcelona late in the window and he has no concrete interest from any other team. In this case, they could let him join Inter on loan to avoid paying his wages. They would probably add an obligation this time though. The bad thing is that Serie A transfer window ends much earlier than La Liga's one so there's a chance they would like to wait even further.

Zero chance of him coming back to Inter, IMHO. At least not in this window. Depending on how Barcelona conducts transfer business this summer, he'll either remain with Barcelona or loaned/sold to an English side is what I would wager

Why doesn't he stay at Barca? Since Iniesta is gone and all your other midfielders are obviously on the decline he could be useful, right?

Who the fuck wants to stay at Barca? Even Puyol who came back after retirement left.

AGENT/FATHER: "WE WAITED FOR INTER AS LONG AS WE COULD. THANK YOU SPALLETTI FOR MANAGING MY SON THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE."

“Inter, for me, were a spectacular experience. I did not know the style of football and language but to me, it was the most important thing to come back and play after my injuries. I knew that my ability to adapt quickly was fundamental and thanks to my teammates and the fans, I was very well received and was able to regain confidence in my ability to play football. The Spanish league is more technical while the Italian one has more tactics. And now I feel very good thanks to the work with my trainer.

“I spent five very good months at Inter. I felt very well there and seriously thought that with the Champions League qualification, I would have stayed but it did not happen. Football sometimes does not bring what you want. I am now a Barcelona player and I have not joined any club yet. In my head, I am ready to show up for preseason training camp on July 11th.”

That was Rafinha speaking to Brazilian media saluting the fans of Inter, the club that did not exercise option to buy him for 35 million plus three in bonuses. But his time in Serie A may not be over because as revealed by Mazinho, father and agent of Rafinha, “the phone is ringing, there are many requests even from the Italian league.”

“Staying in Milan has always been our priority but time is running out. We can no longer afford to wait: now it is only right for us to look around. Rafinha was very well at Inter. The fans immediately adopted him with affection and enthusiasm. Unfortunately, no sign has arrived from the club. Too bad because it would have been important to play in Europe with Inter after earning it on the field.”

Is it difficult to set up a new negotiation?

“The agreement with Barcelona expired on June 5th. My son would have come back even now but time is being wasted, it has been dragging out for too long. Perhaps if they had wanted my son more seriously, they would have moved immediately with conviction. Now it is important to pick another club.”

The position of Barcelona?

“We have already talked to them and together, we are evaluating the best for them and for us. We are waiting to understand their intention. Right now, I cannot say where he is going to play.”

How many offers do you have on the table?

“There is no shortage of opportunities. Inter guaranteed Rafinha an important return and he is physically very well. Merits belong Spalletti, a great coach that we would like to say thanks. He focused on my son, managing him the best way possible.”

Your new priority?

“We are evaluating, the phone is ringing… There are requests from La Liga, Premier League, Ligue 1 and Bundesliga.”

None from Serie A?

“Yes there are. Some great teams already have contacted us but I will not name them. These remain top secret (smile).”

Would your son accept to play in Serie A with another shirt?

“We have to evaluate the best for him, this is what matters. Until today, we put everything on standby to wait for Inter which tried to lower the redemption cost but now we have to find a new team as soon as possible. The goal is to start preseason training camp with a new team.”

Is there a favorite?

“I do not know. It does not only depend on us but also Barcelona from the type of operation that they intend to negotiate and the value of Rafinha. I take care of the contract, the transfer fee is decided by the club.”

Here comes JJM's train of posts about Spalletti's glory because Rafinha's father said he was really good.

So after Cancelo, Rafinha agent confirms there was no sign from Inter for his client (and son). This shows how much Ausilio and Spalletti wanted Rafinha and Cancelo at Inter next season.

This damn FFP.
It's pretty clear that we can only do loans with option until this shit is over. For Only a player like nainggolan the management is willing to buy outright.
We also can't buy outright, cuz we won't be able to register them in CL.

Neither Valencia or Barcelona are willing to do another loan, so there's nothing we can do.

The best thing we can hope for is that nobody is willing to pay the 38, he stays in baca for another 6 months, doesn't get much play time and we comeback for him.
