What makes you say this? Based on what do you say this is his ceiling?
Based on how he performed during the minutes he has been given. I know young players need the practice to hone their skills, but this guy screams mediocrity. When Lautaro joined us, he was 21 and was sitting on the bench. Spalletti would play him very rarely and Lautaro used to make an immediate impact in given minutes. His eyes were sparking, he was demonstrating with his attitude that he was ready for the first team. Young players tend to show some eagerness, enthusiasm, or maybe a desire to prove something. Bellanova must have passed that stage and he is happy with what he displays, cause in yesterday's match, he did absolutely nothing to tip the scale in our favor.

wanting and to be able to do it are 2 different things.
maybe he wants, but he is not equipped with the necessary talent to succeed on top.
he is Bologna level, just like Cambiaso.

Zanotti would do a better job than this guy.

and when Zanotti gets a chance to play for us, you'd say he's shit. That's why coaches keep going back to playing the likes of Vecino.

Serie A fans have created such a hostile environment for youngsters to develop in. Keep dreaming of the next Hakimi (when you can afford 40M on a WB every season)

You're barking at the wrong tree in this one. I'm one of the few members who wants to see youngsters.

And it's not only the fans it's the whole system in Italy who created a hostile environment. Just take a look at how many managers are fired this season again. In Serie B I thought 50% of the clubs had already fired their coach in December. It's a mental thing in Italy and this will only go away of clubs are forced to play youngsters.

I'm not even joking when I say that Jonathan looked like prime Maicon compared to this guy.
I could only laugh when he had about 10 yards of space to finally cross the ball and he hit the first defender in the back.

We talk about giving youngsters a chance, but youngsters with potential. This guy didn't show anything last night that would make him warrant chances

This is exactly the thing with youngsters. They make mistakes. And they might melt down in Meazza.

But yeah, let's use half of our Primavera because they must be better players than X (whoever fucks up in the latest match). For example Bellanova, how on Earth you guys have the ability to tell from his few minutes you've seen from him what is his true potential?

These weren't his only minutes though cafe and you know that.

He came on against Empoli and made us immediately worse, his first pass he fucked up a simple back pass and near played Empoli in. He got none of the absolute basics right, that's the issue. Passing, positioning, dribbling, crossing. He couldn't do any of it right for the entire 45 minutes he was on.

Now, I will blame inzaghi more. If you are going to play a young player at home to Empoli start them. That way you can take him off if he's having a night like bellanova. Putting him in in that situation was madness. Before he came on you could already feel the hostility at the meazza

With few minutes I mean the minutes you've seen him play for us. You tell me you are the expert to tell his potential from those minutes?

Yes, this was more on Inzaghi he put him on. But then again, people in FIF always demands and moans how Inzaghi doesn't use youngsters. This is exactly what using youngsters mean, they might fuck up.

It's not like Bellanova is a 30m rated youngster. We agreed 10m valuation and we haven't paid even half of that (AFAIK 3m). He's not some super talent. And no, our Primavera is not full of super talents either.

I dont give a shit if they fuck up the few minutes they get in the team. What you expect from youngsters who come from the Primavera is like Harpsabu said: The basics should be okay or at least they need to show some potential or class is some areas.

Bellanova already has a season in the Serie B and Serie A under his belt. It's not like he is some kid who came from the Primavera so it's only logical you have different standards for Bellanova or a Primavera kid.

For a fairly thin, young, fit looking guy he has a really slow and sluggish way of moving and running. He just looks really awkward on the pitch, just like someone who started to play football at 18 and skipped all the basics.

Reading posters writing off a 22-year-old with just 1 start is killing my fuckin brain cells, you cunts really have no patience whatsoever.

Anyways, he had a stinker, yes. Like I give a fuck. There is something bothering me though, why the fuck are the fans in the stadium pushing him on whenever he gets the ball to make something happen, they do know he's only a kid and not fuckin prime Arjen Robben? They don't even do that shit with our "established stars" like Barella, Lauti, etc.

I think people are criticizing Bellanova the player, not Bellanova the youngster or any youngster. I agree with Cafe that it is not fair to say this is his ceiling after seeing him failing the few chances he got, but I still get why people are not happy with him.

Personally i liked Carboni more in a few minutes he got compared to Bellanova. He seems smarter, calmer and more mature compared to the latter, but it's still too soon to say what their ceiling is.

Bellanova is probably the only player last night that was capable of taking on defenders 1v1. Inzaghi probably told him take on his man. Something Denzel, Darmian, Dimarco, and Gosens can’t do.

So instead of shitting on him people need to realise he was being asked to do something no one else is capable of in the team.

yet he kept passing the ball to Onana.

Guys you either see it or don't. Are you really expecting him to turn into Hakimi when he hits his late 20s? I wouldn't say a word if he was 18-19, he is almost 23 ffs. He will be Dumfries at best

I can’t recall Hakimi taking on a defender. What I remember was Hakimi was the master at the give and go, using his pace to run into the space.

Do I think Bellanova can do that , yea definitely.

We have to be patient with youth with important characteristics like Asllani, Fabbian, Valentin Carboni etc. Bellanova hasn’t really shown that he has anything other than his physical characteristics.
