I have notice that too. IMO his running speed hasn't increased(which would make sense :)) but he has become faster with the ball. Also his selfconfidence is now there where it should be.

Alvarez has been good in last 2 games but there is no significant difference in what he was in the few decent performances at end of last season. There have been many false dawns in his Inter career, and he has a very long way to become a permanent creative force for us.

Why? he does everything AMF need to do.
Provides more when playing as Lcm. And his defensive work was good against Genoa and Catania.

Also him in midfield would still give him space for the pass and we could play with a deep striker, to help Palacio

Provides more as LCM? that's just wrong thing to say.In his best games for Inter(last season last games and this seson so far) he played as SS OR AMF. Defensive role? AMF with defensive skills is something Mazzarri's really like, Hamsik is exmple.

he's a different player since he moved to SS position, a much better player.

Not really, under Mazzarri his best moments were as LCM. Int he rpeseason and in these three official games, Ricky as SS was mediocre, and as LCM was bossing.

I think that's been coincidental this season, against catania he was moved to LCM after they've completely given up, and against genoa I think it was more because the rest of the team started to gain confidence and push forward after scoring the first goal

ricky's attitude has been very positive so far this season. i really appreciate his determination and defensive contribution.

seems like mazzarri is doing a fine job in getting the best out of the players. jonachan, guarin, and ricky all have been performing a lot better than expected.

shame it's not the case with pariyera (haven't heard of him for a very long time that i have forgotten how to spell his name correctly).

but of course it's still too early to judge anything. who knows if jonachan, guarin, and ricky will suck at one stage of the season and suddenly pariyera starts playing like a boss and we will be sucking his dick like what we are doing to jonachan at the moment.

How is that wrong to say? Everytime when Mazzarri pushed him a line behind to play as LCM we were passing more effectively and playing football from defense -> midfield -> attack . Ricky is the perfect player in our squad for this. He has the passing abilities, the defensive work (not saying he'd be the DM of our team, but I saw he works defensively as well. Covering holes in midfield, tackling, pressuring,..) He was decent defensively. And that for a attacking-minded player.

He's defenitely better as LCM then as SS/AMF. In first half in both games he wasn't that much of a deal. Just passing, not making much actions, just trying to build up actions. BUT he did link up well with the flanks.

Against Genoa where Icardi came on, he was put as LCM, and you could instantly see the team playing more effective football with Ricky as Maestro on the midfield. He helped out Guarin as well. And helped Palacio giving the freedom to roam around on the attacking midfield.

Against Catania, he wasn't much as SS, but when moved to LCM, he was more effectively, passing more, and off course, scoring that glorious goal. Getting the ball in midfield and running to defenders and resulting in a goal.

Ricky should be played as LCM now he has enough confidence. Think it would benefit Guarin and Kova as well if he plays in midfield.
---------------------- Striker --------------------

Nagatomo --- Alvarez -------- Guarin ----- Jonathan
-------------------- Taider/Cuchu ---------------

Solid midfield.

Ricky has achieved the best defensive stats after Campagnaro out of the whole team.

People might think this stat is misleading, but it's very obvious if you watch the games.

He has been not only working really hard to track back, but actually winning tackles and intercepting passes successfully. More so than any other of our other midfielders.

I agree he loses his flair playing away from goal, but having only one ST in front of him while playing as SS, he has trouble creating especially in tight space. This has been the problem with him as SS this season, perhaps it would be alleviated once Kovacic comes back.
