It was announced by Sunderland as an option. Gus Poyet said Sunderland had an option to make it permanent. Alvarez's agent has also said the same thing. Only Inter say something different because they claim they had an agreement with Sunderland who would take up the option if they stayed up. It's as simple as the fact you can't break a contract like this unless nothing is official.

edit;

Ausilio:

"We made an agreement which requires Sunderland to make permanent with them staying up. This occurred so we do not do anything but wait. For us he is absolutely a player of Sunderland. Sunderland stayed up, this was the only condition..."

the obligation wasn't in the contract so yeah, it was a gentlemen's agreement.

That is not true. The end of season obligation was in the contract, even Sunderland are not denying that. Sunderland are arguing that Inter breached the contract by their delays in agreeing to the surgery when Alvarez got injured.

And Inter have not only sued Sunderland for the €11m, but also are seeking damages. Don't mess with Don Fassone, you black pussies.

PS: I guess the only people who think Alvarez is still an Inter player are FIF mods. What the fuck is Alvarez doing in the "Loaned players" section. Don Fassone might sue you too.

what the fuck? this whole situation is a mess.

why did poyet and alvarez's agent claim it was an option though?

This is the first I'm hearing about a surgery issue.

From what I read, Sunderland agree it's an obligation, however they believe that the obligation is voided by the fact Alvarez is injured

If that was the case why didn't we just break Silvestre's legs

Well that's fucking bullshit. How can injury void a loan agreement? Specially if there are conditions in the agreement like we have now. Fucking FIFA also fucks up with this one if it takes several months to decide this.

If Sunderland wins the case, we shouldn't pay Roma for Dodo based on that logic. :work:

I'm honestly more annoyed at Sunderland than Fiorentina.

And it's for this exact reason FIFA cannot and will not find in favour of Sunderland. The precedent such a judgement would set would be an extremely damaging one. Doubly so if there is no precise definition made of how long and/or what type of injury gives a club the right to ignore a mandatory purchase clause.

Here's how I read into Alverez's agent's comment; he has already negotiated with both clubs and come to a golden handshake agreement with each - and is now merely waiting for the FIFA decision to decide who owns him to officially terminate a contract with whichever club "wins".

Looks like he is going back to Argentina with San Lorenzo, once this business with Sunderland is finished.

Not a piece of crap, but he is definately a player that was so obviously one-legged, that he wasn't good enough for a big team (or a team that aspires to be a big team). He could've been a leader in Genoa or something like that, for a short time he was our best player under Strama and then under Mazzarri, but that was like 15 games altogether and also most of the team was shit at the time.

I always felt he isn't good enough to be a starter for us and that we overpaid for him. I wish him all the best somewhere else, he'll have some nice stories to tell his grandchildren about how he played in Serie A in one of the biggest clubs there.

He was really good for Mazzarri's first few months, it has to be said. Not a top player but not a bad one either. I built up some respect for Ricky after THAT game vs Atalanta under Stramaccioni. Definitely good enough to at least play in a top European league. He's a lot better than the type of player that normally returns to South America aged 27.

Always thought he had great potential if it wasn't for his glass legs. Shame his career went to shithole.

I don't think his career went down the shithole to be honest, it's only been one terrible year. But I don't think he ever had elite potential. Talented player, but his decision making isn't good enough and his right foot is nonexistent. Quite honestly I always wondered how Ricky would do in a team like Simeone's Atletico.

If he goes back to Argentina, it's gonna be difficult to convince teams he's good enough for European football again.

Who knows, it could happen. There are lots of examples of players moving to Europe from South America later on in their careers. Zarate, Gentiletti, Basanta, Mino, Diaz, Jonas, Palacio.. If Ricky does well, the price is right, and his agent does a good enough job, it should happen. I don't think he cares about that or he wouldn't be leaving in the first place. I don't see him being rejected by clubs like Genoa, Verona, Carpi, Udinese, Sassuolo.
