Acquafresca for Atalanta?Thursday 19 June, 2008Azzurrini striking star Robert Acquafresca has a verbal agreement to join Atalanta, according to the player’s agent.
Last season was Acquafresca’s first full season in Serie A and he impressed with 10 goals, which helped the Isolani stay afloat.
There has been speculation that the 20-year-old, who is co-owned by Inter and Cagliari, may be used by the Nerazzurri as a bargaining chip to bring Antonio Cassano to San Siro, but now it seems he may be on his way to Bergamo.
“Firstly the co-ownership situation between Cagliari and Inter must be resolved,” representative Paolo Fabbri stated.
“Inter should take full control of Acquafresca and they have some kind of verbal agreement with Atalanta, who are most likely to find a deal with Inter.
“The thing is that the whole agreement can only be completed when President Massimo Moratti owns 100 per cent of Acquafresca.”

It seems the deal isn't ready yet. What there is to negotiate still? Is it that Inter wants to have Acquafresca fully owned now and then loan him to Cagliari? That sounds the only reasonable thing why this hasn't been settled yet.
That way Cagliari can have him for another season but can't have the transfer fee next year. Only problem is that compared to co-ownership, they have a bigger will to bench him etc. if things doesn't go well as Acqua is just a loan player for them.

5M is good for Cagliari. I guess they're happy about this deal.
The problem is: can Acqua repeat his last season's form? because if he doesn't, Cagliari will not hesitate to bench him. He's not their player anymore.
It's the way it is. The loaned player is in worse situation than Co-own player. If he is on Co, it is in Clubs interest to make him play better, and so they can earn more money from him. When on loan, you don't have that factor, thus making Adnan's point a valid one.Interisti are the most pessimistic people around!
