And why not play Adriano or Ibrahimovic more on the midfield but play 2 stirkers anyway.

I bet we lose in the second half, 2-0, 1-0 or something and in the 89 mancini let adriano suazo and crespo all come in.

Its actually quite clever in some respects...
Roma has recently been raping us on the counter, and makin our midfield look like nothing.
So with this line up, theres that extra bit of cover, and more fluency in passing can be acheived.

I have faith in Mancini!
Bravo, finnaly somebody actually think before typing.

I'm not too happy with him experimenting now, but I have faith. A 4-3-3 could work, because Figo and Cesar will be good wingmen to Ibra, and also lock down Roma's midfield on the back.

Fingers crossed x

But you're right Ziyad this isn't the time to experiment.

If we beat Roma everybody will be happy and Mancini will be the great one. We must see a result of that formation, did he ever play one striker in this three years?

Stop moaning, so what that he's playing with one striker..I understand it, in Italy every player must defend, Figo is on fire but he can't run and defend so that's why we need not to go all out in this game- well at least not if we are not losing.
Also he had to make choise who deserve to play most, and that's players who are most inform right now. Beside Ibra, none of strikers are inform. Cesar and Dacourt proved that they are im form against Samdoria.

He plays a five man midfield so he can close down on their midfield easier and put much more pressure on them. He figures if you close their midfield down they won't be able to play their game, which(one touch fast play) they are so good at. He play's Cesar, Figo and Stankovic to be our creative force, while Dacourt and Cambiasso take a more withdrawn role as usual. It makes perfect sense.

However what doesn't is that he changes his philosophy in every big match, and that he tries an untested formation against a very tough opponent.

Surely you can understand people being frustrated about that. Because had we had a good football philosophy of our own we wouldn't have to adapt our play to our opponents so damn much.

Mancini maybe thinks he is Ancelotti (a shit coach compared to Spalletti), first he goes from 4-4-2 to 4-3-1-2 (like milan), and now 4-5-1 (like milan).

mancini knows that roma run circles around us

hes just simply packing the midfield so that they cant use that extra midfielder against us

plus, to cover up our defensive frailties esp with maxwell at LB

mancini knows what hes doing, because we cant afford to lose to roma

I don't agree with Mancini, but I'd like to see us play before making any clear assumptions.

but unlike ancelotti, this is a plain 4-2-3-1 rather than a 4-3-2-1 christmas tree formation

I think the reason for this is...that the other team in question is not ready for it. They cannot respond to a formation they havn't seen at all!
Its true though, it MAY backfire. Lets wait and see!

He's playing 4-3-3 with cesar and Figo as conservative LF and RF, not 4-5-1.
