How is half of France's team random players? :serious:

France has the most star-studded squad of the tournament.
No they dont. Argentina has better knows names, if we talking about "stars".

Both teams have been underwhelming imo. Hoping this is a classic but I wouldn't be surprised with a boring 0-0 or 1-0 with both teams playing cagey.

France is easily the better team on paper, but have a bad feeling Argentina wins this one.

I think a lot of pressure has been lifted off Argentina. Wouldn’t be surprised if we see a different team against France

France team basically overhype player on social media just because they had good rating on games like FIFA and Football Manager but cant do shit as a team. I hate Argentina but on this one I hate France more, Deschamp as a coach is made an easier choice.

They might be overhyped players but they are very good players too. The starting 11 players and even the squad, they are full of good players who plays for big teams as very important players.

Problem for France is, they don't play as a team. Everyone wants to be a hero, just like Belgium.

No they dont. Argentina has better knows names, if we talking about "stars".

Yesterday Argentina 11 was
Armani - plays in Argentinian league
Mercado - plays for Sevilla
Tagliafico - who moved to Dutch league in Jan
Rojo - back up for ManUtd
Otamendi - yeah he is first choice for best team in England
Mascha - plays in Chinese league
Ever Banega - plays for Sevilla
Enzo Perez - plays in Argentinian league
Di Maria - yeah he is good player for PSG, best team in France
Higuian - striker for best team in Italy
Messi - Arguably GOAT.

Apart from Messi you can easily make argument that France has better known players in every position.

Which player is better or which team is better, we can argue all day but Argentina don't have more "Known" players.

France usual 11:
Lloris - First choice GK for Spurs
Pavard/Sidibe - Pavard plays for Stuttgart so he isn't much known, Sidibe plays for Monaco who won French league and Semi finals for CL just a year ago
Varane - Starting CB for Madrid who won 3 CLs in a row
Umtiti - Starting CB for Barca, who won La Liga with huge margin
Mendy/ Lucas Hernandez- Injured, otherwise first choice LB for City/ Lucas plays regularly for Ateltico Madrid

Kante - Arguably second best player for Chelsea
Pogba - Important player for ManUtd
Matuidi - regular player for best team in Italy

Mbappe - second best player after Neymar for PSG
Griezmann - key player for Ateltico Madrid
Dembele - Injured a lot, but will be regular player for Barca

Then they have players like Kimpembe, Lemar, Tolisso, Fekir who all plays for big teams.

France players need Zidane, to destroy their ego and play as team.

Agree, plus both sides weakened by poor coaches. Pace of Les Bleus present a lot of problems for a terrible defense, hope Sampaoli comes to his senses and sits Mascherano but I am skeptical.

The problem is who do they play? Biglia who’s even slower? Lo Celso? He’s not a really a true DM. We saw in CL how he got found out in that position.

I agree Mascherano is past it but Argentina didn’t really bring a replacement.

No, I concur - they are bereft of options but I would still consider Lo Celso due to him being better on the ball. Unfortunately, they simply lack steel in the midfield so they will need to be able to maintain & win back possession. Mascherano was giving balls away with zero pressure, he's sadly past it and I saw this plenty this past season at Barcelona

Once Lanzini went out with an injury, seemed only logical he'd choose someone like Matias Kranevitter but instead opted for experience in Enzo Perez rather than quality or need at DM. Sooo, I think they are effectively obliged to play with a double pivot and try a 3-2-3-2 formation - of course, this could be suicide against Mbappe & Dembele

Di Maria – Kun
Banega – Messi - Pavon
Mascherano – Lo Celso
Tagliafico – Rojo – Otamendi

On paper, France is better when looking at the roster. However, I expect Argentina to finally wake up after surviving the Group stage.
