They all made mistakes, but Handanovic's action is the most unjustifiable IMO.

Bastoni knows he needs to smash that ball if there is even the slightest bit of hesitation

He knows he fucked up, Handa thinks he did well

They both fucked up but De Vrij giving the ball into space there was a teririble play.

de Vrij is easily the least to blame in this situation. You said in the match thread it's 50% on de Vrij? Fuck off mate, that's just your bullshit ultra-Handanovic bias at work again. It's like 5-10% on de Vrij AT MOST. The remainder of the blame can be pretty evenly divided between the other two clowns give or take.

I can understand Bastoni's confusion in that situation but yes, he should've sent that ball to row Z.

What Handa did was just fucking ridiculous.

Lol

That was a horrible pass to no-man's land. Handa made the mistake of keeping going forward despite Bastoni sprinting to the ball but De Vrij was the one who created the whole mess. Wouldn't give him 50% but a lot more than 5-10%. If he wanted to pass to Handa, fucking do it properly. If he wanted to pass to Bastoni, fucking do it properly.

And please, try to behave with the insulting. It's just bogan (did I get this right haha)

If he had done what he does a lot of now, standing still, he could have prevented both goals.

Disappointed in his reaction after the goal he was partly to blame for. Doesn't carry himself like a leader.

Its time to send him back to Udinese. He can be captain there.

There's no need for that. He can be the backup GK since they don't seem to trust Radu for the role. But we definitely need to get a new starting GK in the summer (if we have money to spend). GK and LB/LWB should be our top priorities in the upcoming transfer market.

Handanovic is not good at 'reading the play' in a way that a lot of the more modern goalkeepers more. For example, there is no doubt in my mind that a goalkeeper like Allison would know how to deal with these type of passes - not specific to this situation but in general. Most goalkeepers today have a higher 'starting position' in order to cut-out counter-attacks, etc. but Handanovic has never really been good at this. The majority of the time he comes out there's a fear he'll make a mistake - I can't recall the situation but I remember something similar against PSV a few seasons back when he could have gotten a red.

No doubt other GKs can make these mistakes, but ones like Alison are typically well-positioned and have better decision making in this type of cases.

Handanovic still has good moments, but he's not really the same player who can bail us out in many games in a season. He'll have a game like the one vs. Napoli every once in a while, but those days are much more rare for him nowadays.

That double save tonight was insane, changed the game as it would have been 1-1 and we probably would have crapped our pants after that.

He still got it, but is losing his invincible consistency. Its time for succession planning.

We need to find a top keeper that the other big 10 teams don’t have or want. To me Musso isn’t it. He doesn’t even start for Argentina

He's like 4th/5th choice behind Gazzinga, Armani, Martinez, Andrada. That said Argentina has always been a mess, remember Milito barely got to play in WC2010 and JZ4 didn't even get a call up.

Musso is a fine keeper but not worth what they're asking for.

It may be his last days in the club, but as always he covered our bare naked backs.
