Dear Inter fans,

This morning I was very surprised, as I expect you were, to read the reports in some of the newspapers, in particular La Gazzetta dello Sport. I want to be very clear, as I have always been throughout my career and with you, the fans, who have shown me so much affection and respect from my very first day in Milan. Don't worry: my only thought is winning, alongside my team-mates, the Coppa Italia, which would be the sixth trophy in two years and the third this season. Nothing that happens away from the pitch, though it may upset me as a man, can drive me away from Inter.

I wont be surprised if he switched to Real; but it probably won't happen until the 2012/2013 market opens, at least. We all fail to realize that there are 2 clubs Eto'o loves: Real Madrid & Mallorca! Barcelona to Eto'o was just an employer(he even said that openly a couple of times). He didn't really love them per say! I'd say he has more affection for Internazionale, in 2 years, than he had for Barca in 5 years! If u guys remember, he WANTED to go back to Real, when Mallorca could no longer afford him, but was reluctant to go be a back up to El Fenomeno. At the time he said something like, why must he be on the bench for El Fenomeno, why not El Fenomeno on the bench for him...The dude loves Real, i don't doubt it one bit. The only affection he has to Barca is a couple of friends, Iniesta & Valdes for sure, Messi & Xavi I think...So to say he won't go to Real coz he loves Barca, just doesn't rhyme to me.
Real, Mallorca or Inter. Those are his 3 possible destinations. And I will bet money on any of those 3.

He found that very disrespectful from the get go.Perez was the president at the time.He was at their Academy and when he was ready to play,he was never given the chance to prove his talents.He was loaned out to many teams like espanyol and other teams who treated him badly.Mallorca, was the only team that gave him the chance to play.While he was at Mallorca, he won the Copa del rey beating madrid in the finals. Infact no other player before Messi has destroyed Madrid everytime they played.There was a time that he averaged 2 goals per game against Madrid. It was guaranteed that he would score against Madrid.He was pissed at them.

Barcelona and Rijkaard gave him his best opportunity, when they bought his contract from Madrid.Perez was too happy to sell him to his rival with the belief that Eto'o wasn't good enough for Madrid or any other big club and Eto'o helped Perez lose the election 2 years later because his first year with Barcelona they won La liga with Eto scoring 25 goals and la liga and the CL the next year[wining top scorer in spain with 26 goals and scoring the vital equaliser at theCL finals against Asernal] while detroying madrid along the way in all the Classicos.When Eto was sold to Inter,Iker casillas was happy Eto left spain because he won't have to deal with eto constantly putting the ball in the back of his net.

Its actually Barcelona that Eto loves because the fans loved him..... still loves him and also because the team gave him his firts real chance at Big Club ball.He counts Messi,Bojan ,xavi,iniesta,abidal,puyol his close friends. He said he will never ever play for Madrid.

True Drake, but if u recall: Eto'o has on several occasions shown he still holds Madrid in high esteem. Now, one mistake people make with his Barca career is to credit Rijkaard! Big big mistake IMO. Rijkaard himself openly said he didn't want Eto'o. He said Eto'o was forced on him by then Barca president (I can't remember his name now). It was widely believed that Laporta (arh! that is the name ) went for Eto'o more as an attempt to upset Madrid (Eto'o was 50-50 Mallorca & Madrid: he wanted to go back to Madrid, but Perez didnt want him; Mallorca was in debt & wanted to cash in on their 50%). Valencia & Marseille were the most likely to pick him up. As a matter of fact he was already scheduled for physicals at Valencia, until Madrid said something like should Valencia sign him, they must agree to never play him against Madrid: there in came a threat of a lawsuit by Eto'o's lawyer-agent! Then all of a sudden Barca popped in with a $20 something million offer that Madrid just couldn't refuse. That is how he ended up there.
Now as far as playtime is concerned: Recall again-Rijkaard said he was banking on Guily, Larson & Dinho as his primary forwards with Maxi as backup. The first few games of that season, if my memory serves me right, saw Eto'o come off the bench, & impress....and that is how Henrik ended up on the bench. His relationship with Barca fans, was kind of up & down if I recall. Eto'o actually had more friends at Madrid while playing for Barca!!
