What amazed me is how we kept on insisting to play the ball down the right, I get it, Perisic is a danger when comes into the ball on the second post but when a defense is organised like Sassuolo you could at least try something different and we have been very unlucky on set pieces.

One major mistake Candreva made but it's easy to say it now is that at one point during our only counter attack he didn't pass the ball to Perisic.

Candreva is a player who plays better when other players move around him and has good chemistry with him. Candreva plays best when he can play one-two passes. Candreva started to play better ever since Valero was our AMC and began to drop since Valero wasn't our AMC anymore. I don't think it's a coincidence. Valero supports Candreva more than Mario and Brozovic. Valero makes himself available. Candreva needs an active FB who can play one-two with him as well. In that way he can cut inside more often and offer more options for the team.

I just don't think it is one-sided fault. It is not only his fault, nor I'm saying others. Candreva delivers more creativity when he can run into spaces with quick passes to players around him. That way he doesn't have to cross much and he can cut inside so release some pressure from Icardi. But, let's be fair when there are more than Icardi running to the box, Candreva can deliver better. Valero, Brozovic, Vecino and Skriniar have tried it but lately we have no one getting into the box apart from Icardi.
